Bunch of unrealistic trade scenarios in here, or trades that barely move the needle in terms of getting better short term or long term. AK has spoken, he is standing pat at the deadline due to the lack of teams selling.

AK isnt an idiot. He’s not going to show his cards during a presser. Of course he is looking for ways to improve the roster...it’s his job. He did the smart thing by leading people to believe he is standing pat, so he doesn’t distract the team with trade rumors.
Maybe he doesn’t make a move, but that presser didn’t tell us anything.

The thing is that this team isn't in line to get the next James Harden who wants to move. They need a bit of luck with either a couple of our young guys developing into an allstar. I don't think that'll be any of Coby, Lauri or WCJ, and PWill is anything but a lock, but his clock still has a lot of time. Our next best bet is to take fliers on guys who have shown ability in the past, but fell out of favor in a new location for whatever reason or their timeline is wrong. The 2 best examples of that I am hoping we go after are Drummond or Wall (can't do both $ wise on contract matching). Are they surefire wins for us, no, but not bad risks.

Could try for Vucevic. Porter, Carter, and a 2022 top 10 protected pick for Vuc. if they want to clear more salary then we can include Felicio for Ross. Hopefully we could also get them to throw in James Ennis because he is a very efficient scorer. Orlando saves cash and tanks for Cunningham or Suggs. We get to keep our pick this year to pick somewhere in the late teens and try to add another rotation player.
If the Bulls don't plan on re-signing Markkanen then he can be included in some variation of this trade.
White/Sato/Arci
LaVine/Ross/Temple
Williams/Ennis/Valentine
Markkanen/Young
Vucevic/Gafford/Kornet

That's not enough for Vuvevic. He will cost much more than that.

Well there is a rumor that the Bulls are interested whether you agree with it or not.
Yeah and none of them will involve trading out a young player like people are doing here.

Yeah, for sure, 2 more years at $45Mish, but I try to look at contracts from an opportunity cost perspective. We aren't likely to nab anyone next season, so I'm not so sure it really hurts the Bulls. The following season, it becomes a large expiring. I think Wall can be a very good player during the remainder of his deal...not worth the $$$, but marginal allstar level isn't out of the question.

Personally I'd be willing to Flip Lauri + Felicio for Oubre + Looney. Looney is a competent backup, and moving him takes some money off their tax bill moving forward.
Yesssss... I’ve been preaching Oubre, but I’m not sure if it’s necessary to trade an important piece for him when he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. The Warriors are so far over the cap paying Curry, Green, Thompson, that there is no way they can afford to resign Oubre.
Personally, I love Oubre’s potential and think he should be one of the top players targeted in the offseason. 6’7” G/F with a 7+’ wingspan and freakish athleticism. He’s already a great defender and his offense is coming along. Sign me up.
Bulls should just wait till the summer to try and sign Oubre. His contract is up at the end of the year so the Bulls would still have to resign him this summer.

Not really. Most trades have been OPJ - Drummond swap

But I wonder what the Pacers offered for Temple? Obviously, it wasn't anything of interest...

Yeah, that'd be nice, but I guess that's not what the Pacers offered

I'd do that, dunno if PHX accepts. Mikal and PatWill at the 3/4 would be real nice.
Not sure what pieces TOR would need but I think Boucher is ready for a bigger role.

I think Adams is a bad fit alongside Zion (saw he had a good game with Zion out last night). Adams excelled in BD's system, is only 27 and is extended for 2 years at $17M.
What about:
Otto/Lauri/Hutch/Kornet for Ball/Adams?
What about:
Otto/Lauri/Hutch/Kornet for Ball/Adams?

What about taking on Horford's crappy deal to get some young prospects?
Otto/Hutch/Gafford for Horford/Dort/Poku?

Well, if I was a NOP fan, I'd be bummed about hiring SVG. You've got more than 10 guys on rookie contracts. It's a strange decision bringing in a veteran defensive coach. He's no Boylen, but you know he's not going to play offensive talents through their mistakes... which I would want if I had that many lotto picks on the books, looking to be evaluated and developed.
I keep saying it, but this is the secret to losing in the NBA:
1. Over-stock on small guards and traditional bigs.
2. Hold more than 6 rookie salaries.
3. Hire a defensive-minded coach.
Bulls were (er, are) in the same boat (way too many young players, small-guards and bigs), but getting bailed out by Donovan's fast pace, good spacing and Thad/Temple/Sato's multi-position vet play. Honestly, if Otto and Hutch were healthy this year, this team would be a #4 seed, and we know they're not even that good. So IMO, Bulls critics are underestimating the potential if Artunas is able to strike gold in the draft and FA market with a few more reliable wings. We're competing with a 35yo Temple, 19yo PW and Sato/Valentine filling out the forward positions. It isn't impossible to ask for upgrades with the $40m+ of Felicios and Ottos coming off the books.
[/quote]
I agree with your 3 points to a losing team. In order; the too many rookies contracts is what you saw in BOS, they traded their veteran team for a bushel full of draft picks and had too many young guys fighting each other for playing time and no veteran leadership. Even with an excellent coach they still haven't gotten through the playoffs. The overstock on small guards was the Bulls story when they had Hinrich, Gordon and Duhon. They needed that on big SG to play next to any of those three and they would have made it. But way too often Deng ended up at the 4, Hinrich at the 3 because they needed his ball handling and leadership and they just couldn't get over the hump.
Of late with the instantly terrific play of Williams if they were healthy they would have have too many forwards. If PW and Markkanen started Young would be the primary reserve with Porter next and Hutchison and Valentine barely seeing action. But as three of them were injured they ended up playing Dunn and Harrison at SF last year and this year it has fallen to Temple to do his best out of position. Were either Markkanen to start or Porter off the bench were healthy and playing close to expectations this would be a powerful team. We wouldn't be complaining as much about Carter, Coby would have more of a threat at the PF so defenses couldn't pay as much attention to him
It's great to have a defensive assistant coach who gets the most out of what they have. But the defensive head coach tends to put his best defenders out there over his better offensive players thinking he can stop the other team when all he can do is slow them down but usually not as much as he is holding back his own team from scoring.
