Perfect time to make new addition and integrate with a full week of practice.

I think their staying as is. I don't think theres anything out there than can move our needle as positive as fans think.
I think we need to think long view for the franchise, I get it were wasting our current stars best years. But lets not be hasty, and wait till the off season when we can make better moves.

Who plays the long view after winning the finals? This team should have traded everyone but Bam and Butler for Harden. Herro’s value was really high after the playoffs and Duncan Robinson’s was certainly higher than it is now. That was the time to make a move. Herro reminds me of JR Smith and not in a good way. Robinson has gone from all time great shooter to merely good and it’s killing us.

It’s possible no trades are made or maybe just a nominal one. Still envision us at very least using the injury mid level exception on a buyout player like Blake Griffin or Demarcus Cousins. Shortly after a trade of Leonard’s contract, Harkless, Bradley, and KZ could be dealt for another piece. These are tweak moves without rocking the core of the team.

Much needed W but it begs the question of why Spo held Yimmy out vs ATL. He obviously isn't injured and every game vs sub-500 teams is a MUST WIN at this point, especially when the opponent is in the SE division. Seems like another case of Spo thinking he's smarter than he really is and as a result we dropped an important and very winnable game in a season where we have zero margin for error after that shambling start

He also never seems to challenge plays for whatever reason. I think he believes he is some type of artist and his work has to be unique and different from the norm. Between substituting the hot player when hot or not playing the players many of us think should be playing, he seems to always be on his own island.

overall impressions from KZ this game?

not so much "he sucks" but more about - what do you think his best case scenario is 1 year from now?

Agreed. Here’s two examples in just the last 5 seasons of when one or two wins made all the difference:

It’s ok to give players rest, but if you’re going to do it, have it be in a game you’re probably not going to win anyway. Spurs do that all the time. Lebron does the same thing. But Spo just keeps making the same mistakes.

The "He Sucks" narrative is outrageous. Okpala has played more than 10 minutes six times this season, including last night's game against the Pelicans. Most of the time he has only a defensive role, but in the one time he was given a larger role (because of injuries to the rest of the team in Detroit), he scored well from beyond the arc (4 for 5) and got 16 points.

I see Okpala as a 3-and-D guy a year from now, very similar to Derrick Jones Jr, but contributing with more minutes. Two years from now, I see him as starting somewhere (probably not Miami) and showing off his great handles. The Heat scouts liked him enough to spend 3 second round picks from a nearly-empty store.

To be fair, had Miami made it to the postseason in 2018-2019, it would have been embarrassing.

I think Spo has decided that the advantages of home court advantage are outweighed by injury risk. This season is compressed and accelerated (the second half is even worse), so player fitness is a concern. All Miami needs to do is qualify for the playoffs. I don't think the players or coach or front office believe the Heat won't make it into the top 6 (to avoid a play-in). Once in the playoffs, the Heat are a tough out for anyone.
