I'd honestly rather have Drummond.
I'd take Javale McGee over either of them.

Re: Woj: Blake Griffin emerges as a top buyout candidate
Blake didn't care on a bottom tier Pistons team this season. There's reason to believe he'd be a lot more motivated here. The man put his body/career on the line to push Pistons to 8th seed in 2019, and to play two games for them in a 1st round sweep, despite needing knee surgery. I don't doubt his heart. Obviously, recurring injuries have taken their toll and he's nowhere near the player he used to be, but he's a high IQ/skill player with plenty of experience, and it's a chance worth taking imo.Prokorov wrote:DarkXaero wrote:There's no reason to be against Blake Griffin if he gets bought out. The risk is not there at all. If he shows there's still life in his game, you have a great bargain. If he looks completely washed, you don't play him or waive him, it's simple. We have Norvel Pelle, Noah Vonleh, and Iman Shumpert currently taking up roster spots, would you guys seriously have any of those guys get a roster spot over Blake?
shump over blake for me 100% and its not close
Blake is probably better then vonleh and pelle but both of those guys fill roles better then blake. vonleh as a dark alley guy and pelle as a shot blocker
whatever value blake adds is completely diminished by the big 3. people hate DJ but blake is more washed and disinterested then he is

Cant think of many worse fits than Blake for this Nets team. Doesn't provide anything the Nets don't already have and a huge injury risk as well

On this team too he could just focus on doing the dirty work, play defense, and get fed baskets from Kyrie and Harden.
“The Blake Griffin” I think could be great in that role.

Only he isnt a great finsiher anymore. he has declined athletically and is gun shy about even coming inside the paint. he was never a rim protectir, let alone one now. the hope would be that he is a better jeff green, but i dont think he is

Re: Woj: Blake Griffin emerges as a top buyout candidate
I readily admit that Griffin is half of what he was in his prime, and you can argue even that is being generous, but IMO what you can't argue (well you can, but it's a foolish argument in my view) is that Griffin is not an upgrade over some stiff like Noah Vonleh. He most definitely is and that's why I would pickup Griffin and release Vonleh in a heartbeat if Griffin is bought out. That swap definitely upgrades our bench.
Plus don't discount the rejuvenation factor if a once elite veteran comes to a veteran team like the Nets, on a quest to win a championship, and has a chance to contribute off the bench to a championship team.

I think he gave zero effort for Pistons this season, and played like he was avoiding any possible injuries. I also see zero reason why it must be a choice between Blake and Drummond.
I think under a wining atmosphere he will be better. He will never be a 20-10 guy again but if you use him right ( his passing skills) and let him operate in the low post gor 15 minutes a night he can be a useful contributor for a team like the Lakers,Clippers, Miami or Nets.

Looks like Blake might come here. I think we can use him at the C position.

Harden/Shamet
Kyrie/Brown
KD/Harris
Green/Claxton

I mean its obvious that he gave up in Detroit. Are we sure he can't or he just wasn't motivated?

Re: Woj: Blake Griffin emerges as a top buyout candidate
Bring him on. People will only look at the raw numbers without applying the proper context to argue that Blake shouldnt be in the league anymore.
Blake was an all star his last full year with the pistons, dragging that garbage team to the playoffs. He had a pretty serious injury the season after that will most likely prevent him from ever reaching his all star level, but with the talent level we have here he could be a pretty damn good player now that he won't have to carry the offense or initiate the offense anymore.
Before the season started NO ONE expected Jeff Green to look as good as he has nor that he would be so important off the bench. A seaosn ago he was waived by the jazz...
Nicholas claxton has looked springy playing Harden, Full of energy and should develop into a good player, but like Greenm no one expected him to become an integral part of the bench.
We need depth. Especially at the PF position. If Harden, Kyrie and eventually Durant can make these bench guys look good, I have no doubt Blake would be great here.

lol f'n kill me if he not only comes here but we shift out lineup to START this bum.
If he wasn't motivated in Detroit, how would he be motivated in what rightfully should be a 3rd or 4th guy off the bench role?

Re: Woj: Blake Griffin emerges as a top buyout candidate
I mean, depth is depth. We don't really have to play the guy that much if he's not that effective. I'm sure we're gonna experiment with 2-big lineups with Griffin and one of Jordan or Claxton, and if it doesn't work out...then we won't do that anymore.
But I mean, we're giving Roberson spot minutes. Can Griffin really be any worse? He's a lot stronger than Green or Claxton, I think for certain matchups where we need to match up with a big man down low, Griffin might be the better answer defensively.

We needed a big lineup anyway. Everyone here was clamoring for Drummond or McGee.
Are you telling me Blake is worse than those guys?
