Sunday, Marks has to decide to retain or waive TLC, Roberson, Shumpert, Cook and possibly, Cheeze.

Sunday, Blake Griffin becomes available by clearing waivers at 6:01 EST.

You cannot seriously think keeping any of those four names over Blake Griffin on a minimum type of deal is a smart move.

Btw, this doesn’t even affect our ability to deal Dinwiddie for a wing, prospect or draft assets which seems like will have to be done regardless.

He keeps hinting like what we do in June will determine his decision and we cannot afford that. He will be dealt.

BTW did any of the detractors watch the Nets/Pistons Game?

Because he didn't look DONE verses us. He looked like anything but DONE.

Maybe, JUST MAYBE, he was motivated to show the Nets he can still help a contender if he's bought out?

I think the nets should sign him. Just till the end of the season nothing more. What’s the worst that can happen, he sucks and doesn’t play. He can sit next to shump on the bench. I don’t see anyone out there that will be a major help to the nets that they can go get. I like claxton at the back up center and want him to get more mins. So we need a pf and not center at this point.

I think Blake just needs a change. I think the player he was is in there somewhere. Maybe not as athletic. But if he’s healthy then they should get him. I’m imagining harden throwing lobs to griffin right now. On this team he won’t have to be the man. He won’t have that contract dangling over his head anymore. If he can come in, play hard, rebound and finish his open looks he will be fine.

Blake vs LeBron last month.

His floor spacing ability now at the minimum would make our offense GODLY

Yeah, this would be the best Nets signing this season or should at least be on par with Jeff Green.

Blake could be far better than he looked on the Pistons. You can cut him if he isn't.
Exactly, I don't see the point of getting worked up over this just because he used to be a big name. If it doesn't work out, its easy to get rid, and we're not giving up anything for him. This is as low risk/high reward as it gets.

Obviously the 76ers are first, and the key players are Embiid and Horford who are post up nightmares. We need to focus on stopping a player like Horford. I think PJ Tucker and a rim protector like McGee would be enough. Tucker is underrated at holding bigs off the paint and can defend all 5 positions. In the finals it will be the Lakers if AD remains healthy. If AD is hurt we might see Clippers, I doubt Jazz will make it despite their early success but they are a similar matchup like the Clippers. I think we already match up well and even Claxton is probably going to be effective as they tend to be perimeter teams and not paint bullies. PJ Tucker would help us against any team since he can defend AD and bigs plus multiple positions. I think it's a toss up with Drummond, he might help against Embiid but not so much against Clippers. If we can get Tucker and McGee and maybe another perimeter defender like Nwaba we should be good. Iam not sure about Griffin but if he is a buyout low risk why not, he would have to move the ball and set up picks with less post ups though.

You realize Horford isn't on the Sixers anymore right?

Whoops I meant Tobias Harris, they are using him to close their games

Griffin had a 26 points/8 three pointer game right before the Pistons sent him home.

This would make our offense even scarier if he’s shooting it like that and he’s capable now.

Today everything is about the "narrative" and the media sets the tone.

It's all opinion journalism in the sports media nowadays and the squeaky wheel gets the grease, meaning the stronger your opinions are and the more definitive and forceful you are about them, the more successful you are.

That said, here's the general "narrative" on Griffin: If he's not what he was in his prime, so HE'S DONE, period.

There is no middle ground. No gray area. Either he's still great or he stinks.

The media has decided it's the latter, so that's the narrative and unfortunately the fans buy it all too quickly.

BTW when the Jazz dumped Uncle Jeff he was supposed to be DONE too. How'd that workout for us?

I trust Sean Marks. If he thinks Griffin still has enough left in the tank to help this team, I'm all in.

Paradise, TY for posting these videos.

Clear evidence that the "Blake is totally washed-up" narrative is total BS.

Just because he's not the perennial All-Star he was in his prime, that hardly means that he's done.

He is anything but DONE and anyone who watched the Nets/Pistons Game should know it.

If that wasn't enough to convince you, just watch the videos Paradise is posting.

Bottom line, are you going to believe "the narrative" or your eyes?

Media had the narrative Tom Brady was done, was only great cause he was in a system at the time, even had evidence cause his completions had dropped last couple years. The guy went to a 7-9 team with the highest overall losing percentage in the entire NFL and just won a superbowl. Sometimes a change of scenery to a more talented team is needed, look at what Harden is doing.

I'll gladly swap out Roberson for Blake. Yall are tripping. I'm not high on him either but he's better than the trash we signed to 10 day contracts.

He can be a plus in the 2nd unit I think especially if he and Harden can develop chemistry. He just needs to come in, buy in and work hard. Be a positive influence. James Harden has come in here and has uplifted the team chemistry and culture. Blake just has to do what he is asked.

Some of you guys need to relax - big time. Blake's best 3PT shooting season was 36%. This year and last he's at 31% and 24% on quite a lot of attempts. He's not really a floor spacer.

Also, this isn't NBA 2k. Yes, Blake is probably better than Cook, Shump, Roberson. Doesn't mean we should jump to sign him. I don't know what Blake is thinking but if he has a big ego + the respect of the locker room - he could easily disrupt things. If he's expecting a 24 to 28 MPG role - we can't just sit him. He's not going to happily cheer like Shump or Roberson. We've seen first hand the locker room politics playing out with DJ. I'm not saying this is definitely happening but it's a possibility. It's why you don't just jump to sign the most talented guys for bench warmer spots.

With all that said - I'm willing to be positive about the signing. If Blake is really willing to sacrifice for a championship and he's cool with a small role - maybe he can help. With Detroit, he had to do crazy things like run PNRs, take step back 3s, isolate and score. Here - in a much simpler role - maybe he can find a niche. Maybe he can focus on the little things and be useful. Maybe without the pressure to score - he'll be a lot more efficient.

This is another pinch ourselves moment though, if we do get him.

Once again we find ourselves going from our coveted signing being paying Travis Outlaw $35 million in an era where that was HUGE FA money for a scrub, to now being near locks to get a premier buyout candidate.

Amazing.

Looks like we're getting him (seems like a double confirmation). $13.3 mill is quite a bit of money so he might cost more than the minimum to make up some of that money.

The understated aspect of Blake is that we might finally be getting an enforcer on our squad

Why can't we get both?
