How in the hell has he not been fired yet? Goes to show we are destined for misery as long as vivek owns the team

I think Monte is prepared to ride him out for the year for financial reasons, but also so we can do a real search in the off season and get a higher draft pick. I'm fine with that. I just want to see some trades before the deadline to get off Buddy and Bjelica. Maybe Barnes too although I don't think he's as necessary to move, personally.

Luke Walton listed at betting favorite to be next head coach fired

Walton and Dwane Casey are both +250 according to Sportsbook.AG

I don't think they want to pay for a new head coach. May as well promote Gentry if you ask me. Let McNair hire a new coach in the off season.

If we lose 10 in a row with Detroit being number 10 maybe Vivek lets Monte do it?

Yeah agreed. As awful as Walton is if we keep on losing and his coaching helps that then for this year that wouldn't be the worst thing. Obviously wanting to win is the ultimate long term goal but gotta bottom out first to get a high pick and go from there.

As someone who is “pro-tank”, they are going to have to fire Walton at this rate

Even if they don’t want to. Even if Monte wants a high pick, if the team outright is laying down they have to fire him

Which unfortunately might ruin our “tank” if they come out more inspired for gentry

Didn't watch tonight's game.

But here is our chance to lose 10 straight, if they don't fire Walton after that....

Vivek's checkbook.

While I absolutely want to tank for a top 5 pick and think Walton is our best chance at that, I think it will push our current players down the wrong path where they develop terrible habits. Allowing Gentry to try and inspire these guys could be what’s best for the team if they are going to be led by Fox and Hali moving forward. There is still potential that they fail and we fall into the pick anyway, but watching Gentry coach do his best with his coaching lifeline to push our young guys to play their best would be amazing.

Honestly if Gentry takes over, I think the Kings will rally and challenge for the play in spot. I don’t think the team is deep enough to make it in, but it will force Fox and Haliburton to take all the responsibility moving into next season. Sure we lose some percentage points in the lottery, but it will be better for the current players.

At what point do the players that remain lose interest because of the poor coaching?

Not gonna lie, it seems like the players are taking blame. They seem to be trying to remove blame from the coaching staff, which seems to indicate that they like Walton and company. :-?

This and also, I know a lot of us are assuming Walton will be fired this off season, but what do we think the odds are that he ends up finishing his contract through next season? The Amick/Jones article on The Athletic said the Kings have lost $100 million since the pandemic started and a lot of minority owners are pissed about having to pay for multiple head coaches at the same time.
