The mental gymnastics one has to go through in order to justify not giving the MVP to the best player this season.
We know Jokic is not the best player, because his defense isn't elite.
If we were in a weak era and none of the best offensive players had elite defense, then Jokic may have been the best player.....but we aren't in that era.

CP3 should at least be in the convo. It's a damn shame that he is not.

Yes it would be great if we could have another poll that expires at the end of the season. Even better if we can change the vote that would be ideal, given the fluctuating nature of the award.

No gymnastics involved. Embiid has been the best player, and his team is the #1 seed in its conference. He has been an offensive juggernaut (not as good as Jokic) and a All-Defense/DPOY-level defender (did I mention that Jokic is having an unreal offensive season?).
As long as Embiid keeps up this two-way play, and the Sixers stay near the top of the East table, it is his award to lose, IMO.

Totally fair. I was completely stanning for the Sixers to find a way to get him this past offseason. Without question the Suns have been the biggest surprise this season (so says Captain Obvious). He should finish in the top 5 (after Embiid, Jokic, Giannis and Harden).

Agree, I think he deserves at least the recognition. He def. won't win it but Top 5 would be great.

Cp3 was a no brainer to try to acquire. But sixers already traded horford and a first round to okc.
Only way cp3 trade works is to trade Harris and a future first and throw in thybulle.
But okc is rebuilding. Harris contract is longer and more expensive than horford and he was coming off down year.

BG deseres a mention here if the Nets become unstoppable, BG at centre and second half of season narratives propelling him.

For us to have gotten CP3 it would have cost real assets - assets I was willing to give them. The reality was CP wanted to play in Phoenix, and Presti found a deal that worked for them that also accomodated Paul.
Here's hoping Lowry wants to come home.

Re: NBA MVP Discussion 20/21
I watched ESPN and it's just ridiculous their narratives. Stephen A Smith tried to argue how Irving should be on these MVP discussions. Meanwhile he has had stance against Embiid all season long because games missed... Irving has played 3 games less than Embiid...
That said, I do like people mentioning Paul in recent discussion. Definitely top 10, but outside of my top 5, and I don't really care people past that. Paul won't win it because he doesn't have that special individual statistics and Suns were playing great in last year's bubble anyway...

Irving is an odd choice considering Harden is more valuable to the team currently. Don't see how irving is even in the top 20 convo tbh....

You guys can keep pretending like that east isn't absolutely hot garbage. There's literally only THREE teams that are 2 games over .500. THREE. The whole comparing of records thing as if there's symmetry is complete BS imo. Why not have a nuanced take on team record? I can concede that as of now Embiid is the MVP, but its not because hes a better player than Jokic, its due to external factors.

That's a stupid excuse ur making up, will u atleast admit Embiid is possibly better even without the external factors your talking about? Smfh

Put Chris Paul in the poll. Guaranteed he finished with more media MVP votes that Steph Curry.
