Re: Can this roster be fixed within a year?
short answer: no.
#1 on my to do list is trade Ant.
Rosas needs to trade Ant before this team craters his value. I have no confidence he develops here. This team does not have the culture to develop him.

Trade for Gordon and Collins. Max Collins and hope to resign Gordon. With remotely competent coaching you are a playoff team. You will gut the bench and eliminate youth, but you will be good in the short-term.
Gordon and Collins? Who all are you trading out in this scenario? What's left? I don't max Collins unless I'm a team with no maxes at all or a team with a max slot with that single hole to fill to guarantee a trip.
I would work Orlando in to the Ricky Rubio to Toronto trade with the assets for Rubio and fill going to Orlando for Gordon. I would send Edwards, McDaniels, and Okoge for Collins, Reddish, and Dunn.

There are the two trades I would do, minus draft pick swaps and such

Can't say that I would do the same. But you've got a plan going and that's what I was wondering how you saw it all fitting together.

Re: Can this roster be fixed within a year?
There is no hope for this team.
Our season starts the day we trade away Rubio for a piece we need in PF.
And then its all about crossing our fingers for keeping our pick.
Anything else over that is just hot air for now.

I can't say it's the plan I personally want, but if blowing it up isn't an option, this to me is the best chance we have at trying to keep Karl and making a run with DLo.
DLo, Dunn, JMac
Beasley, Nowell
Gordon, Reddish, Layman
Collins, Vanderbilt/Hernangomez
Towns, Reid
Would that roster be enough to get us up to play in round? Who knows.
Again, not my first choice, but that starting five can put up serious numbers. Most would be 24/25 next year so not old

Re: Can this roster be fixed within a year?
Fixed within a year? Yes. Ready to contend? Unlikely.
I think the biggest issue is going to be amount cap going towards KAT and DLo is going to makes any improvements tough. Gordon and Collins is plausible as noted but them and Beasley is going to make any other moves tough so you have to bank on them being what you need and the bench on the cheap working because there's no other room to make changes. Not against idea but think end of day it's likely Beasley and X for the PF hoping Ant becomes a 2 way SG and McDaniels continues to develop while Rubio is dealt for some (likely partial) relief against cap to keep a few more options open long term.

Re: Can this roster be fixed within a year?
Step 1:
Culver/Towns/Futures and/or fillers for Drummond/Allen/Sexton/Cavs 1st
Trade 2:
D Lo/Vanderbilt/Okogie or Nowell/Cavs 1st for Siakam/Fillers/Futures
Hope for Cade Cunningham or Suggs
Roster:
Cunningham
Sexton
Beasley
Siakam
Allen
Main bench rotation:
McLaughlin
Ant
Big Mac
Naz
Note: I’d then use cap space to try to target a max player and a 3 + D wing

Yeah, I took that trade. To be honest, not normally a big Britt fan but if were to happen I wouldn't hate that trade.

I still never understand why fans of a team with Beasley and Edwards and even DLO (who's probably better playing off the ball) love to come up with trades where the main piece coming back is a SG. This team needs forwards. I would rather get Okoro and Nance Jr before Sexton.

This team needs floor spacers. Okoro's are easy to find. Guys like Okogie (or Okoro aka basically the same player) are unplayable because we have no other floor spacers. You can find defensive stoppers and play them if you have other floor spacers.
Also I change my mind on wanting Siakam I think haha

Easy answer is not to lose the pick. Any one of the top 5 would probably have been the clear 1st in the Ant draft.

Re: Can this roster be fixed within a year?
Can Cunningham play point forward at the 4 in the NBA? I mean that's the easiest way to fix everything. If you're running shooters like D lo, Beasley, and Towns and moving them around Cunningham you're going to have a really good offense. That doesn't fix the defense issue, but...

It's not the Ant draft you need to think about it, it's the 2022 draft. Will anyone on the Wolves get in 2021 be better than anyone they could get in 2022. I hate losing an unprotected pic. Man, I wish Rosas could have gotten top-3 protection on both and then it turns into seconds and cash.

Certainly could. He's not far off from the size of a Brown or Tatum who play the position for Boston. Also similar measurements to Robert Covington.

Theoretically, if we draft Cunningham and he's somewhat close to the real deal with some positive health luck we will be giving up a 10-20 pick that is closer to 15 or so is the idea though. I mean D lo, Beasley, Ant, Cunningham, Towns is a pretty talented group.

I think that's really interesting for the Wolves.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
