Vuc - “I Love Orlando & I’m Happy”

Post#1 » by UnFadeable21 » Thu Mar 11, 2021 1:23 am

The All-Star center recently told Shams Charania of The Athletic that he likes the idea of building a legacy with one team, citing Damian Lillard‘s loyalty to the Trail Blazers as a point of reference.

Nikola Vucevic remains happy with the Magic.

“I’m happy where I am,” Vucevic answered when asked if he wishes he were playing for a title contender.

“When I re-signed with the Magic, I knew it was going to be a process and I knew we weren’t going to turn into a championship team right away... It’s unfortunate we’ve had all of these injuries. I think we are headed in the right direction, but we have lost two very important players — Markelle (Fultz) and J.I. (Jonathan Isaac) — for the season. If we were healthier, our goals would be much different and we could achieve much more. But that’s just part of the journey. Unexpected things are going to happen.”

Vucevic has two more seasons remaining on his contract.

Of course, Vucevic doesn’t have any veto power over a trade, so the Magic don’t need his approval to move him if they get an offer they like. And several teams – including the Celtics, Heat, Spurs, and Hornets – are said to have “significant” interest in the 30-year-old. Still, all indications are that Orlando isn’t looking to trade Vucevic and would require a massive return to consider making a deal.

absolutely love Vuc... Plus, he's the type of guy you wouldn't trade unless its to a contender because of how loyal he's been.

Rather roll the dice on him and see what happens with the roster construction within the next season.

Vučević is currently ~120 games behind Anderson for most games in Magic blue. Vučević is under contract for another 200 games, exactly. So: if Vučević plays in 60% plus one game, he will be the iron-man of this team in history. As Vučević has averaged 84% of available-games played, he will be favored to obtain this mark. Beyond being traded at some point, only a serious injury would derail this.

Vučević already has:

Most FGs made
Third in total points
Second in most offensive rebounds
Second in most total rebounds
Eighth in total assists
Sixth in total steals
Third in total blocks

For Orlando in 9 seasons he has collectively 17.5 ppg/2.8 apg/10.8rpg

It is essentially certain that Vučević will average a double/double over a decade+ in Magic blue, whilst having excellent assist numbers for a Center.

That´s all true. But he also is the face of the franchise worst decade. I´m not too high on retiring a jersey of a player who in 10 years hasn´t won more than two playoff games.

Because, you know, without him team is clear contender, right ? I mean without him, Lebron and Durant are knocking on the doors tomarrow to get here so they can lift mickey mouse?

Vuc is great excuse.
For every bust fans famed over -why that player doesn't shoot more
For every bust fans fam over- why he is not playing more
For every unskilled free agent replacement that flopped- why they flopped.
For every incompetent coach to run fucntional basketball roster
FOr every front office to build funcional roster

It's never their own fault.
it's Vuc fault that best teammte he ever played with is third best player on team with worst record on the West right now.
IT's Vuc fault that bunch of delusional real gm fans thought Gordon is new Kawhi Leonard
It's Vuc fault that bunch of delusional real gm fans thought Elfrid Payton is "point god".
It's Vuc fault that Hezonja never learned how to dribble.
It's Vuc fault that Isaac has glass knees
It's Vuc fault that Fultz has TOS that cripples him.
It's Vuc fault that they burned $80M on Bismack Biyombo
It's Vuc fault that they drafted another bust in Bamba.
It's Vuc's fault that only time team had cap space, they burned it on position they didn't need.

Who said my criticism was of Vuc instead of the front office? Is it Vuc's fault that this franchise has treated him like he's Hakeem? Of course not. I question if you love Vuc more than the Magic.

I was baffled when the Magic gave a multi-year contract to AMinu as a PF when the team had two starting-quality PFs on the roster already.

In 2019, the team needs a PG; it did not need Aminu.

His contract will dampen management efforts to retool in the coming off-season.

I have, over the last few days been dealing with some thoughts over what to do with Vuc. On one hand he could land you a haul and on the other he is an extremely loyal big who will probably still be putting up good numbers into his mid thirties.

I agree with Pepe on this. Vuc isn't to blame for the mediocrity that the FOs have put on the table. He hasn't had a quality starting five to play with since he got here and him saying he is happy and loves Orlando should be a sign for this FO to build a proper team around him using the assets they have to do so.

Don't get me wrong, we will be bad this year, but with proper moves we could be a real team next year. Let's be frank...no one is beating the Nets in the East with the firepower they have while being healthy. So if the Magic won't trade Vuc, the idea should be to properly build around him next year. Don't run it back, make moves to give him legit help, and see what they can do. It all starts at the wings, in a wing dominated league you need at least one capable starter, the Magic have 0. So trade to get one, even if he is a Nesmith type of project and suck this year to get another. The Magic are on track to get a high draft pick, so trading to be worse bow, but better next year is pivotal to this franchise. Get rid of AG and Fournier and just let the losses roll while getting projects back or mid draft picks where you can draft contributors.

This shouldn't be hard but this FO will screw it up.

Another moronic poll...what is a "massive haul"? I'd trade him for what I think is a massive haul, but nothing points to that coming.
