Webber isn't in due to political reasons. The scandal he got involved with at Michigan has been held against him for a long time. Tim Hardaway is another guy who isn't in for political reasons for his homophobic comments that he made about Don Amaechi and gays 10-12 years ago. Both should get in and have paid the price for waiting all these years.

Nope and I think Chambers is actually a good comp for why or why not? He's not in and I think he and Aldridge have reasonably similar career arcs. Chambers peak was probably slightly better than Aldridge and he's not in.

Both seem like great players but empty calories if it comes to HOF worthy-ness.

I don't remember the exact number, but Chambers may have been the 20th-22nd player to go over 20,000 points so I think we have to evaluate how many people have hit the number Aldridge ends at before just propping up the numbers.

Wonder if he regrets going to the spurs. A finals run or 2 would help his case a lot

Whatever Webber did as a college kid is not comparable to a retired grown man. I think Webber has issues because of college but also because of 2001. He is getting screwed.

They literally just let in guys like Charlie Scott, Mo Cheeks, Paul Westphal, and Jack Sikma a few years ago. Guys that were third/fourth options on a single championship team. None of those guys have a significant case over Aldridge.

Agreed Calvin Murphy, Frank Ramsey, Bill Bradley are all guys who are not as talented as LMA and individually achieved a lot less career wise. 2 out of 3 are in because they played on NBA championship teams. Calvin to me is shocker since he didn't have a great NBA career with his career average of 18 points and 4 assists and only 1 all-star game appearance. Mitch Richmond got in recently whose career resume is nearly identical to LMA except Mitch has one less all-star appearance. The only difference is a washed up Mitch played on the '02 Lakers title team and got to play on the '96 US team. LMA could easily win a championship with the Nets or Lakers to pad to his resume.

Correct me if I was mistaken didn't '01 have to do with Webber admitting in court he took money from a booster while he was in college?

Borderline case. I can understand why so many people said no, but I do think he'll get in - especially if he ends his career as a key rotation player (3rd option) for a winning franchise.

Chambers made it to 4 all-star games while Aldridge made it to 7, Aldridge made it to 5 all-nba teams while Chambers made it to 2 all-NBA teams. I don't see the similarities. Aldridge also had better career playoff numbers of 20 points and close to 9 rebounds compared to Chambers 15 points and 5 rebounds.

If he's just even a good role player getting 10 points and 6-7 rebounds off the bench on a title team it will boost his credibility.

A rich private investor needs to make a a Hall of Legends. With very strict standards. Besides memorabilia they could have lots of other attractions as well.

For example they could have basketball courts where you try to hit LEGENDARY players shots/buzzer beaters for prizes.

So they should create a basketball amusement park?

Id go.

And it would teach history and have much much higher standards than the HOF so it gets garnished with respect.

I have zero reason to go to the current HOF.

Show me the five time All-NBA player who isn't in the Hall of Fame.

He'll also probably end up with 20k points and 9k rebounds.

Basketball Reference has him at a shade under 51%. I say he will get in but it will take many years. He is the exact kind of player who would have been considered much better had he played in a bigger market. If he had had the same career in Chicago and finished it with the Lakers instead of Portland and San Antonio we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Take a look at his 'similar career performance arc' - Chris Bosh, Elvin Hayes and Alex English are the most comparable.

Anything's possible when you think about it with the HOF.

To be fair to Bill Bradley, his career may not have been that long(10 years) and he was known for his time on the golden age Knicks squads that featured numerous hall of fame talents such as Dave DeBuscherre, Willis Reed, Walt "Clyde" Frazier, Earl "the pearl" Monroe, Red Holzman and lesser known names at the time such as Dick Barnett and Phil Jackson who'd become a GOAT in coaching and peyote tea. 13 rings! Bill wasn't too shabby on the court either.

I think what put him over the hump was that he was the most successful Ivy league player ever in the history of the NBA not to mention graduating from Princeton and Oxford as a Rhodes scholar then becoming a senator in New Jersey helped him out a lot. It also helps that he and Manu Ginobili are the only 2 players in the history of basketball to win a Euroleague title, NBA title and Olympic gold medal.
