Nine-time NBA All-Star and Los Angeles native Russell Westbrook announced Wednesday he is founding a new charter school in his hometown. The 32-year-old said he is launching the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Academy in South L.A., a middle and high school, grades 6-12.

“I plan on making sure that you guys, future kids, come in, have access to all the resources you need to be successful,” Westbrook said in a video posted to his Twitter account. The academy is being co-launched by Westbrook’s Why Not? Foundation and the education nonprofit group LA Promise Fund.

Blake Griffin and the Pistons have agreed to a contract buyout, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Woj adds that Griffin "has interest from most of the NBA's top playoff contenders" and that he will make a decision after some conversations with prospective teams. Woj didn't mention any specific teams by name, though. Griffin looked like a shell of himself this season, averaging 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists on 36% shooting.

Lonzo took a gamble and elected to go into RFA this summer. It's looking like the right move.

StatMuse: Lonzo Ball has made more threes this season than: Trae Young , Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, LeBron James. He also has a higher 3P% than all of the above players.

He certainly has turned his game around. It shows his work ethic unless it's to only assure he gets paid this off-season. Time will tell.

Caris LeVert will make his Pacers debut on Saturday vs. Phoenix.

He'll sit out for Friday's game vs. the Lakers and will likely play limited minutes vs. the Suns. LeVert practiced in full on Thursday but it's going to take some time to get his conditioning and rhythm back. Fantasy managers may want to wait a game or two before activating him, but he's going to offer a ton of upside when the restrictions are lifted. His return will have a domino effect on the rotation with guys like Jeremy Lamb, T.J. McConnell, Doug McDermott and Justin Holiday each losing a bit of value.
