A. Using the current Bucks roster and cap situation, build a championship team that has Donte starting as the shooting guard.
B. Now use the same situation, but you can trade Donte.
Which one was easier A or B?

So like Craig and DJW for ?
The key to the Salmons trade was we got value for taking Salmons cap money off the Bulls, so they could pursue Bosh and Wade.
Of course ironically, Salmons outplayed his remaining $6.5mm year left on his contract, and opted out with us.
So, to extract the value you got from Salmons, we’ve got to take longer money back, than we send out.
Yep, that's what I've been looking for. This is actually desirable for us, imo, since if it doesn't work out we can then try it again next year. I don't really see anything with the particular player combo I noted. Maybe Rodney McGruder?

In fairness, B is much easier because Donte is the only real asset we have after the Jrue trade. Aside that, we have a lot of players on the poo-poo platter.

If you believe that Donte isn't capable of starting for a championship team that also starts Giannis, Middleton, and Jrue, what's the alchemy required to turn him into that piece? They're equally easy/hard.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - No Politics
I choose A in that scenario.
Someone mentioned taking the longer bad money back and kind of a reclamation project. That's probably where I'm at, need to hit on something like that, the Tim Hardaway to Dall type trade rings a bell to me. You got value back on him as a bad contract but he actually was a good player if used properly, even if overpaid. If we can find a wing like that or a replacement for Brook like that it helps a lot. Or hitting on a late pick changes our fortunes a bit. Like say Diakite clicks.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - No Politics
Gordon is maybe the only "bad contract" that could actually help us.
Gordon and Martin Jr for Augustin, Connaughton, Wilson, Craig is equal money and leaves enough money for one buyout vet. It upgrades our Top 8 going from Pat to Gordon, but leaves the rest of the roster with rookies and Thanasis + vet in between
Holiday.......DiVincenzo....Powell (2-way)
Gordon.......Forbes.........Merrill
Middleton....Thanasis......Martin
Giannis.......Vet.............Nwora
Lopez.........Portis..........Diakite (2-way)

Eric Gordon shot 32% from 3 last year, and is shooting 33% from 3 this year, the year everyone else can hit 3s.
He's in the bottom 10 of contracts I'd want on my team.

We need another Donte. If we trade Donte, we'll still need another Donte.

I’ll make you this promise, if the Bucks don’t win the NBA championship it won’t be because of Donte and him not executing his role.

I wanna see it.
So whom would you prefer, Paul George or Damian Lillard? I'm sure the salaries are close enough.
I mean if DDV is as mediocre as you say, what the heck are they getting for him and his paltry salary? Combine him with bad contracts and who's giving up a missing piece? Combine him with Brook and DJA and win a title with Pat C, Thanasis, Portis, or Forbes as your 5th-best player on any given night? I don't think you've thought this through, but if you're so adamant about, it's up to you to find trades that actually make the team better, are consistent with your take on what you seem to think should be obvious about DDV's value without being ridiculous from the other team's perspective, work under the cap, and don't leave them with literally the worst supporting cast in the history of the NBA playoffs, because it's not as simple as just saying you don't think DDV is as good as some of us think and they should trade him.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

Pat, Wilson, 2 2nds for Bamba
At the draft: Brook, Augustin, 1st, 2nd for Rozier
Extend Holiday.
Bamba/Diakete
Giannis/Portis/Thanasis
Middleton/Nwora
Jrue/DDV/Forbes/Merrill
Rozier/Powell
Would this be cap compliant after Jrue's extended? I'm guessing no?

Burks is a nice offensive player, but that's an awful trade. Terrible asset management. Burks was dealt for a 2nd a year ago, and is now a backup to Reggie Bullock. DDV has so much more value.
