Makes sense why everything went nuts on Wednesday night. DBB was really dialed in during the Bears coaching search for Nagy and if I remember correctly he had Juan Castillo coming here as our OLine coach last year.

I can't watch/listen to this right now (at work). What is the gist?

Bears made an offer within the last 36 hours (Wednesday night).

Both Bears and Seahawks are going to be at the NDST pro day to scout Trey Lance + an OT prospect.

Interesting. I wonder what's the significance of the Bears going to NDST pro day. Trey Lance is supposed to be gone well before the Bears pick, right? If we don't trade for a QB, is Pace willing to trade up for a rookie QB? Do they just want to see the OT, which is a glaring need for us?

I suppose if the Seahawks trade Wilson, they could use some of our picks to move up for someone like Trey Lance.

Lots of possibilities here.

Jeff @dabearsblog is by far the best and most dialed in when it comes to Bears news and analysis.

Seems like Russ wants us and Pace will do what it takes. Also seems like DW doesn’t want us. Earlier Jeff mentioned Bears wouldn’t make an offer for Russ until they knew they couldn’t get DW.

Hope this gets done this weekend.

Between this and the Russ rumors, it almost certainly means that Pace is going to give up some assets for a QB soon. I'd prefer Russ, but I think a rookie QB could buy Pace more time as we'd have to wait for them to develop before Pace is judged on the pick.

I don't know. I'm just excited to try something new at QB.

I honestly think there's little chance they trade up for Lance because he's very much a project and they're very much not in a position to be developing a project.

Due diligence + the OT prospect.

Hoping Seattle saw what they wanted to see and are into Lance. He seems to be the type of QB they like and with #20 they can reasonably trade up for him. Seattle scouted Mahomes and Josh Allen in their respective drafts and clearly are into the idea of a rookie deal QB considering they won with Russ that way.

Would have to be a 3 way trade if Darnold is going to Seattle.

Maybe the Jets give up a first + Darnold and get something like Roquan and the Seahawks get 4 first rounders and we get the HOF QB?

Yeah, dude seldom knows what he’s talking about. You can’t offer that many first rounders and even if you could, nobody would. That’s stupid beyond stupid.

For me, a deal would be BoJack, Foles, 2021 and 2022 first rounders. 2022 and 2023 second rounders. 2021 third rounder and 2023 fourth rounder.

I dont want DW either. Too many injury concerns for my liking. I would rather trade up for a rookie QB than trade for DW

If Pace does something truly ridiculous on the compensation side for a 33 year old QB that has had lots of injuries that is bound to lose that mobility in a few years, ugh. I may have to stop financially supporting this team, and I have lots of Bears gear. Yes, a futile gesture, get the handwave emoji. George McCaskey has truly enabled this desperation. That family ownership makes it hard to stay a fan.

What injuries do you speak of? Russ has played 16 games every year since he entered the NFL, that is the very definition of durability. QBs seem to become better with age, Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Big Ben, Cousins, Stafford all became better after turning 30. Plus there sends to be a trend with QBs playing into their late 30's so on the short side he has 4 years of elite status left and 2 yrs of very good given the trajectory of the fore mentioned QBs

Sorry, I did not know his injury history or follow his career other than superficially, I skimmed a post without my glasses that I thought was about Wilson but it was about Watson. But as he takes his first snap as a Bear he will be 33. As a qb who features mobility as his main tool, that window you speak of is questionable how much compensation it is worth. If it was Watson that would make more sense with the majority of his career in front of him. I am all in on trading up in this draft, or just using a bridge QB until we can draft one. Certainly no selling the farm for a pipedream shortcut.
