Butler reminds me of a cross between Khyri Thomas and Jalen Brunson.

Given that he's been driving one of the best programs in college basketball over the last couple of years, I'm guessing he has really strong intangibles. He'll probably be a quality player. Just not sure what kind of upside he has.

Get/trade up to get bouknight (probably already better than Maxey (he has a suspect jumper) is right now and that’s saying something). Durability aside he is the defacto protypical two guard. He’s in that 8-10 range could go up could go down, wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up better than a top 5 pick.

Looks the part for a 20ppg scorer

I think if you say he has the offensive ability of Brunson coming out of Villanova and defensive ability of Khryi coming out of Creighton, then I could get on board with that. That's a pretty ridiculous prospect. If he goes lower than 20, I won't really understand it.

Hopefully we aim to get both Wagner and Bouknight. They both look to have way higher ceilings then any of our young players. They potentially could be both outside the top ten for some unknown reason (doubt it) but if they are would snap them up.

I don't see it with Butler in terms of upside, good shooter, avg passer, seems like a solid CG to score from the bench but I don't see the high end because he just doesn't put enough pressure on the rim

Maybe I missed it somewhere but right now we are sitting at the 28th pick in the upcoming draft with our next pick at 45. What are we using to move up to grab highly rated prospects or potential prospects that may slip?
The Accession of Paul Reed is upon us !

You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

Josh Christopher is the perfect get for us at the end of round 1.

He's a shotcreator that can defend. Major upside. Just gotta be patient with his jumper and be patient with his maturity.

I think this will be a case of overthinking the prospect. 17 ppg (54% 2FG, 44% 3FG, 77% FT), 5 apg, 12.4 BPM (8.2 OBPM, 4.2 DBPM), 4.1 STL%. I've seen people saying he has some of the best handles in the draft. All of that and he's only 20. Seems like a no-brainer for us.

Maxey and our first should be able to get a better talent/fit. If Bouknight drops abit due to injury concerns I’d jump on it.

Negro, quick clarification, why do you keep saying Jared Butler is only 20 years old?

From what I gather, he was born in September of 1999, which would make him 22 years old by the time his rookie season rolls around.

Or maybe Tankathon is wrong?

Hell no, we need to be adding to Maxey.

August 2000. So 21 by his rookie season.

Damn, Cade is the best prospect we had in a while. Not only is he immensely talented, but he's an absolute poised winner ontop of it.

Define in a while lol, we had Zion 2 years ago and Luka 3, like...

My issue with Butler is N-S ability, finishing ability, put pressure on the defense, and his just average feel for a Guard

He is a nice scoring combo, but I don't see the major upside

I'd be fine with him late 1st to be sure

The hangup with Butler is that over 50% of his field goals over the last two seasons are three pointers. And he does not do much cooking inside the arc.

If we focus 100% on fit, then yeah, Morey probably takes Butler with our 1st rounder and Duarte with the Knicks 2nd rounder. We get two guys that can defend and space the floor to help us with our playoff push.

Not the worst outcome. I'd just prefer to focus on shotcreation upside. Get a young stud like Josh Christopher, who is huge, can defend, and score off the dribble. Potential #2 banana to Embiid down the line. Perennial allstar upside.

I know a guy who puts pressure on the rim.

and defends
and spaces
and passes
and is underclassman aged
and has NBA bloodlines
and is presumably smart because he got into an academic school

We’re talking about a pick 25+ here guys. He’s not going to be perfect otherwise he’d be projected in the top ten.

Has anyone ever looked into BC's Jay Heath?

I get that he doesn't play defense or pass, but damn, he sure is dynamic will the ball in his hands. Electric shotcreater and a strong floor spacer, as well.

Only 175 pounds, though.

I feel like Heath is a plug and play space + create. He's like Rozier without the D.
