I'm struggling to verify that starting lineup, I guess we'll see in a few hours who exactly will be available to play when a little twinge after shoot around may keep Love, Nance, or Garland in street clothes.

K. Love is going to play so we can set the medical retirement clock back to zero. Trading him now, versus this summer, or at the deadline, is going to hurt.

Love doesn't look like he's in NBA shape.

Dotson is another guy who isn't a PG.

Why is Allen in a game where we're down by almost 40 points in the 4th quarter?

Sexton clearly was not looking to pass first in this game i dont care what you say about him needing to be that guy in this situation because if they were wanting that from him over scoring he would have been pulled 2 minutes into it for playing his normal role

yep worked out great for the tank... to not utilize Sexton like they should have but instead having him try to do sht that dont work for anyone against the Pels.without somebody actually trying to fill a pg role which they didnt want him to do obviously. They should have rolled with the same line up of Sexton Okoro Wade and JFro that we saw with some success before the break with the Steph clone replacing DG IF they were not going to expect Sexton to do anything besides try to score in the pick and roll.
The way I see it, whatever was going on to not try to establish a two man game if nothing else with Love or Nance back in the line up as well was the one thing I fault him for here...
I still wouldnt be at sll surprised if DG is shopped in the next few days after this debacle without him overvalues his presence immensely in a trade scenario traded or not but maybe they can then get back to actually trying to play right instead of these trash game plans like tonight. JFro got killed too btw

As if Sexton would get benched for running the team too well ...

He should have been if they actually wanted him doing anything besides hunting shots like usual.
It was clearly the game plan to run the pick and roll and Hayes,Adams and Zion make that next to impossible to do.
But yeah it was a bad look that nothing was done to counter it besides sending Dotson in in the 2nd.
Makes DG look like gold though doesnt it

Supposedly the Pelicans had been struggling to defend the P&R, or maybe that's what SVG wanted us to think. They are 28th on defense. Seems the Cavs are often the cure for whatever ails an opponent.

Of course I feel having Garland healthy would have helped, but I'm not jumping to conclusions when we're playing yet another lineup that hasn't seen the floor all season featuring 2 guys trying to return from injury.

But players can do what they think is right, and if they actually are right, the coach isn't going to pull them. Fact is, all our young players have a lot of stuff to figure out.

Heck, fans have been extremely patient with Isaac Okoro because of how hard he tries on the defensive end; but he's been a disaster on the offensive end. Given he isn't actually stopping anyone on the defensive side, he creates a big problem for the team. We're not good enough to win games 4v5. In the short run, the key is going to be to involve him in plays where he's cutting/screening/handoffs/etc, and that means actually running plays - or getting him going in transition.

Meanwhile kpj continues to avg more assists on a iso dominant rockets team then dg or sexton have or could in the same situation.
As much as id like to let it go and say hes just a stat clown on a tanker at this point, id have to twist my arm completely off to say it without doubting my words.
If they continue to struggle to find success as a team the move will burn in permanent scared on Altman and JBB

He's also averaging 25 FGAs. His usage is really, really high. If he can improve his efficiency, he can turn into quite the player. But he and Sexton would be averaging around 50 FGAs per game at that rate, which would've made it very, very difficult for those two to play together. Not every team needs to be the Spurs, but only the Blazers have been able to successfully pull off what the Blazers do.
