If we were in a weak era and none of the best offensive players had elite defense, then Jokic may have been the best player.....but we aren't in that era.

No gymnastics involved. Embiid has been the best player, and his team is the #1 seed in its conference. He has been an offensive juggernaut (not as good as Jokic) and a All-Defense/DPOY-level defender (did I mention that Jokic is having an unreal offensive season?).

As long as Embiid keeps up this two-way play, and the Sixers stay near the top of the East table, it is his award to lose, IMO.

You guys can keep pretending like that east isn't absolutely hot garbage. There's literally only THREE teams that are 2 games over .500. THREE. The whole comparing of records thing as if there's symmetry is complete BS imo. Why not have a nuanced take on team record? I can concede that as of now Embiid is the MVP, but its not because hes a better player than Jokic, its due to external factors.

That's a stupid excuse ur making up, will u atleast admit Embiid is possibly better even without the external factors your talking about? Smfh

No, Jokic has better raw stats. Five more assists per game equates to 10 points, so net +7 points for the Joker. Embiid has a 34% usage rating while Jokic is 29%, that's a huge difference.

Embiid is not better than Jokic. Its possible that he's having a better season, but he's not a better player. Watch the playoffs if you need proof.

Jamal Murray went 1/14

Jokic should be Mvp just for having the Nuggets this good with a non all star guard as his Robin who might be the most inconsistent/streaky player in Nba history. Jamal can hit 40 one night on 16/27 and go 6pts the next on 2/16 and no one would bat an eye at this point

Jokic being discredited because he plays with Jamal Murray is absolutely a dumb argument.

Gonna be interesting to see Mvp odds after today specially if Lakers lose

Embiid took the lead before tonight and Bron was a close 2nd with Jokic is a semi-close 3rd

Gotta think Joel is gonna be out for a while even if its nothing serious and hes already missed alot of games as it is

Wouldnt be crazy if Jokic is suddenly favored to win which would be an insane twist in a span of a day

Giannis with the triple-double yesterday and expected to feast on the Wiz tomorrow. He won't win but his odds will continue to tighten.

Jokic and Bron are both Mvp candidates and its obviously gonna come down to those 2 with Embiid missing too many games

Just like that Embiid has hyper extend his knee ... if he misses a week which is probably that won’t help his mvp case

Leader has to be Embiid, followed by Jokic and Harden/Lillard.

LeBron has been putting up some stinkers lately, if he cant keep his stats up hes not going to have a chance. Other main guys are putting up better numbers with less talent around them.

Embiid going miss 2 weeks likely . So his lead will dwindle if Jokic can win some games

I been always pulling for Embiid to have a dominate year. Especially how he went out of the playoffs the last few years. Always knew he had this type of talent. This sucks but I have a feeling he should be back for the playoffs. This has been one of the most interesting races in a while.

It’s Lebron’s to loose at this point. Jokic is too far down in the standings, have a feeling Lebron will be backed by the media.

Embiid has already missed 8 games this shortened season , doubt he will be in serious consideration after another timely spell on the sidelines.
Games played was always his biggest problem.

lol, in what universe is Nikola Jokic an afterthought? The absolute worst he's going to finish is 3rd.

What a bunch of crap  Denver is only three games behind the Lakers , they are on the five game winning streak , the next five games they are playing at home, they could surpass Lakers in the standings in a week , you are acting like the season is already over  Jokic is playing better than Lebron this season, its not even close.
