This game would not even have been close if not for atrocious defensive rebounding.

It seemed like the Pistons scored 3/4 of their points tonight off second and third chances.

If we're gonna win a championship, and that's 100% what this is about this year, we have to at least get tougher off the boards on the defensive end. Offensive rebounding would be great too, but if we give the elite teams in the playoffs as many second and third chances as we gave Detroit tonight, we're not winning those games.

Despite all those offensive rebounds the defense held up. The offense was a bigger problem tbh. Everyone other than Shamet, DJ, and Harris shot horribly. Bruce Brown was complete garbage again. It's one of those things that getting KD back will fix, but we're kind of thin on the wings. And we really need to stop the lineups that have Brown and DJ on the court together, it kills our offense. Brown needs to be played as a smallball 4 next to Green, Claxton, or Griffin or not at all.

Nash actually did a pretty solid job with the rotations and gave minutes to the players actually producing.

KING: The Beard
PRINCE: Landry Shamet
JESTER: Defensive Rebounding (Team-Wide)

When the other team scores half its points on second & third chances you know your D rebounding was abysmal.

The #1 3 point shooting team in the league had an off night. That to me sums up why this game was so tight overall.

Let's kill the Knicks.

Amen to that, brother!

We know KD is still out, but it would be nice if Blake plays his first game as a Net verses the Knicks.

Bad Nets showed up, worst offensive game of the season bar none and the first time I've seen this team go through a scoring drought.

Lucky harden decided to play with 2 minutes left and Pistons stink. Early season this game is easily a L

ShamWOW is consistently headed in the right direction.

In December he shot 25%
In January he shot 32.7%
In February he shot 40.5%
Now in March he's shooting 47.8%

Good thing we didn't give up on him too soon. We probably lose this game tonight without him.

Landry proved me wrong.

I knew he couldn't stay as bad as he was to start the season, but I thought his larger body of work indicated he was more a good shooter than a true sniper. He might be streaky and a one-trick pony, but he has moments where his one skill can single-handedly turn a game.

I'm not saying he's as good, but it's reminiscent of Vinnie "The Microwave" Johnson on the champion body boys Pistons. They called him The Microwave because he could come off the bench, cold, then instantly heat up and start drilling shots if they were in a close game or behind and trying to make a run.

ShamWow is like our version of The Microwave. 8-)

See my post above. Remember The Microwave, Vinnie Johnson?

Good point. I knew he was a great scorer.

What I didn't know, and expect ... he's one of the greatest facilitators I've ever seen.

Almost as impressive as the positive impact of Harden's presence here, is the negative impact of his absence in Houston. Oladipo is no slouch, and Wood was playing like a fringe All-Star before his injury, but neither can make the rest of those guys better. Harden's supporting cast looked like Tomato Cans all along, but now they can't draft on his greatness and are playing like they look.

We lose this game earlier this season. We can overcome poor shooting to find a way to win. I like what I’m seeing from Shamet and Claxton lately. I can’t say enough about Harden and Kyrie...

was such a bad matchup for us despite their talent low. Large wings and consistent drives. we switched too much again. best defensive possessions were DJ dropping. however he played far too long to be engaged as long as we asked(which is upsetting since he has a core contract and absolutely should never play more than 18-24 minutes). switching highlights Nic ability but also gives up rebounds(game by game it’s clearer he’s defensively a PF). we are very tiny currently. that army of wings really gave us trouble.
it’s a great grit win with our stars long ball not falling/disturbed by length.

Oladipo was always extremely overrated, and he's been trash for years. I've never seen a guy live off of one outlier season for so long.
