Re: NBA MVP Discussion 20/21
If there's one thing we've learnt about this race, it's being a top candidate one week doesn't mean much. The devastating combination of injuries and covid protocol is always lurking around the corner waiting to derail their campaign. MVP goes to the candidate whose team gets hit the least

Re: NBA MVP Discussion 20/21
Since the Nuggets aren't doing Jokic any favours and since the Jazz are disrespected no matter what they're doing i'll start rooting for the Suns.
CP for MVP.
Those talking about giving it to LeBron for career achievements, should think that CP hasn't gotten any reward for his legendary career, while he's been balling year after year.
Look at the turnaround of the Suns.
If that ain't a strong narrative then which is it?
Go Suns go

Leonard does not a glaring weakness but does not have a very strong point either
Gobert, Mitchel miss the stats
Harden and Giannis will probably tick all the boxes but they can't be even discussed.
Lebron is still putting up good stats not great but good

lebron continues to be the clear-cut mvp and is playing with an injury riddled team.

Embiid will likely miss more than 20% of the season. I don't know who was last to have won having missed even 15% of the season. Bill Walton comes to mind as the one guy.
Over the past 25 years the NBA MVP hasn't missed more than 5% of games on average.
Jokic and LeBron are probably in drivers seat right now

No. His stats are pathetic. In an new climate where scoring is insane, he's only managing a measly 25 PPG while being the #1 option without AD.

Re: NBA MVP Discussion 20/21
Harden has the stats, the wining effect and making his teammates better effect better then anyone currently playing and the NBA and his team is on a tear mainly because he is carrying them for majority of the time. I fear the narrative and the legacy award will be given to Lebron

Re: NBA MVP Discussion 20/21
There is still a chance for Mavs to be back to top 3, and Luka comes back strong. I know the chance is slim but it would be a legendary story if he can go through the favorite hype before season start, out of shape at the beginning, covid and losing record, redeem, and mvp process.

More or less what I'm thinking but Lebron has the stats (we have just seen him put up better stats in previous years and not win) and if the Lakers end up with the first seed I can see him winning.
Giannis and Harden have a chance to make this convo weird if they finish the season hot.

Harden gains momentum imo. If Durant keeps missing games and the Nets pass the Embiid-less Sixers in the standings he would have as good of a case as anyone.

Steph always gets better as the season goes on.
Warriors have gone through the toughest part of their schedule. They’re about to start steamrolling these next few weeks.
Steph going to have a pretty good case by end of April.

Impressive performance from the Warriors

Yep. I think right now if Embiid was healthy it would be
Embiid
Harden
Jokic
Giannis
Lebron
Take Giannis out (replace with KD) and that’s the best 5 players currently in the nba

Only games missed because of load management or injury should be considered. Not covid protocol. Even then, he will have missed a lot.
