Such great news. I feared the worst. Fortunately his knee didn't need to stop a heap of momentum.

Hooray!

Thank God he's going to be ok! In the meantime, it would be great to see Dwight turn back the clock and step up for a couple of weeks. He was at one time one of the best bigs in the game. If we could get anything from the past out of him for the brief amount of time that Embiid is shelved, I like our chances at staying atop the east.

So much for complaints about flopping when nudged by Gobert in the Utah game. This is the third time by my count he has been nudged going for a dunk, the first by LeBron leading to a back injury which troubled him for weeks and this one the bone bruise, and hopefully no more than that. These guys need to be protected in the air, coming down with all that body mass from up in the air and landing awkwardly/unbraced is very dangerous cf Andrew Bogut shattering his elbow after being undercut while hanging on the rim, pretty much curtailing his shooting/scoring for the remainder of his career.

Seriously? I mean that’s why little old ladies exercise in the shallow end at the Y. They don’t swim. Just gentle resistance. That’s how Wilt rehabbed his Achilles.

Yeah that's a good idea. Hope he does it.

If I’m not mistaken they said reevaluate in 2 weeks? That means he’s likely out a lot longer.

Hence 2-3 weeks from other sources.

My gut tells me 4 weeks. Shake was out 3 weeks with the same injury so I’d give Embiid an extra week or work him back in slowly after 3 weeks.

I know injuries are unavoidable but im thinking maybe the work he put in on his body this offseason helped deter the seriousness of that injury.

I was thinking about that this morning. Hopefully Jo is encouraged rather than discouraged by this.

Yeah, well I’m getting tired of him getting hit below his chest while he’s midair. Anything that causes an awkward fall/landing is kryptonite to the big guy. Almost want to see him play with a beefy pf who is mindful of a little body guarding.

(Also, isn’t this the same kind of injury that caused Zhaire to miss last years playoffs, and put a hold, if not end, to his clouded career? Of course, he was a project at best, whereas Embiid is pure mvp stock, and we’ll see him through, regardless of how long his recovery takes. I’m just mentioning it because while he didn’t tear anything, it’s still an injury we can’t treat like a minor nuisance.)

It means that these days it would be impolitic to say “Nobody takes a cheap shot at our franchise player without getting me up in your grill.”

I always thought we needed one of those especially with Embiid being so injury prone. I think mike scott plays that role somewhat but hes probably more concerned with his career lifeline right now. We could use a goon, everyone other than mike is pretty soft.

You just can't play that way anymore. Closest thing is Dwight probably, and he's more like an agent of chaos or whatever instead of actually trying to play like that.
