If he hits the buyout market, fine but I'd be annoyed if we traded literally anything for him

Or since Khris is doing well just keep holding him until the upgrade to a true star shows itself. Say the Beal deal finally can happen, or the equivalent of him in the next year or two that comes up. Personally I'd rather use Jrue since he's older and gonna have more years left on his deal (assuming he signs for 4-5 years), but either way you get the idea.

The devil's in the details. Depends on who's available and what they're asking for. I defend Khris because I think his critics are a little more preoccupied with aesthetics and flash than substance, but I do think he settles back into that top 40-ish range over the next few years, and lower than that eventually. That's usually not what a team trading a Beal/Towns is looking for.
So you could make a case for not waiting too long, but in any case I think they pretty much have to see how this group plays in the playoffs before they do anything at all drastic unless it's a no-brainer.

This is one of those places where I diverge with most of the board. I just don't share the pessimism about winning this year. I know the regular season hasn't been nearly as much fun as the last two years, but it's no more a predictor of playoff disappointment than the last two years of regular season dominance were a predictor of playoff dominance. They should be a really good playoff team IMO and I have no problem with them flying under the radar.

I'd generally agree. Or at least that they're not for sure worse than last year, could see them actually being better in playoffs with Jrue. But, BKN didn't exist last year and Lakers are better(if healthy) than last year. To me it's more that those two teams as comp are the problem, not that MKE got worse. Plus Phil is better if Embiid is back.
