This is basically him still in the first month of the season, while the other guys have a half year resume. Yeah, if he keeps it up he should be in contention since that would mean he played close to 60 games and they are a top 3 seed, but he's more of someone to keep an eye on or honorable mention at this point. He will be part of the conversation in a month.

Butler numbers look great and he is a great defender but he missed 35% of games so far. And his 3pt% is 20%.
Durant missed too many games too.

If Embiid is out 3weeks that would be like 15+games that he will miss from beginning of the season and with his history is likely to miss few more by the end of season.

Giannis is playing good but i doubt he gets 3 in a row. Bucks are also not that dominant this year.

Lebron is having a good season but in my opinion his only advantage is being 36. But since when MVP award became a lifetime award  Several guys are having better seasons

Harden is playing amazing but the big part of that is Durant being out. When he gets back his numbers will drop.

Doncic- if Mavs get enough wins to be in top4 in west i think he has a good chance.

Jokic like someone said by advanced numbers is top10 in history in several stats. He also has least help out of all the guys mentioned above. His biggest issue is Denver might not be placed high enough. If they manage to get in front of Lakers or Clippers i think he gets it.

There is also Paul, Lillard, Curry, Gobert.... Definitely a great year by a lot of guys.

Jokic is screwed unless his team magically becomes good. Jamal Murray 3 points in the Grizzlies game, 10 points in the Mavs game....

Dude can drop 40 then drop 10 points or under in the next game. He is too inconsistent to be a true star....

Embiid is going to drop out of the MVP convo. Great season but he is gonna miss tons of games and its clear his team is pretty stacked even without him.

Plenty of people on Realgm have expressed their opinion and don't believe Giannis should be an option after winning the last two times. I personally don't feel that way.

Care to elaborate why you have KD over him since KD has only played in 19 games?

AD missing 3 more weeks, probably means that LeBron's case will lose much ground since the Lakers will lose more games.
The other side of the coin says that if he manage to hold them in the top3, he becomes heavy favourite in the media.
Ofc he would prefer to win the ring, so probably he won't lose sleep over it.

76ers fan Embiid is definitely out. Has MVP impact but missing too many games is no bueno.

Harden is Harden top 3ish been the best player for the Nets in the top 2 seed, beat the west going what 7-1 in like two weeks? Lol.

Kawhi’s been great probably has had the quietest noise as a potential MVP candidate.

Giannis is having a hell of a season and probably would be an MVP candidate if he didn’t win the last two years.

James has the team record/narrative but others have performed a lot better. Makes sense he’s 36

Jokic has the most inconsistent sidekick in Murray (team isnt crash hot lost a huge chunk of important depth. Grant would probably be the actual 2nd best player). 3 game difference between the Lakers is not much but I couldn’t tell you if Murray is going to score 40 or 10 next game both are a real possibility lol. That his second in command

Curry/Doncic top 5 seed in the West is a hell of a shout for MVP.

Jokic
Embiid (out though injury)
Harden
Curry
Giannis
Doncic
Leonard
Lillard (forgot to mention him but more noise but he got overlooked last year)
Lebron (is higher due to team record and voter bias/media).

Still an open race in my eyes backend 20 games someone surely has to break it open and be the clear favorite.

I haven't looked at Denver and LA's remaining schedule, but that will play a role in the MVP.

Yep the more I look at it the more it solidifies to me that Jokic should be the clear MVP (Embiid injured).

Losing Grant
Millsap is ancient now
Porter Jr missed a lot of games
No defensive players in the top 6-7 of that list that are elite

And the difference between bubble Murray and the last two games of Murray, that’s such a huge variance.

James has the team record but he’s a had a better team for the most part. Everybody else’s team besides maybe the Mavs (GSW are actually quite solid defensively which is actually good for Jokic’s offensive wizardry) is so much better.

Top 3-4 seed in the West I have Jokic as a lock.

I predict that Jokic will get about 55% of 1st place votes, LeBron about 25%, Embiid 5-10%, with a few other players getting some as well.

Nuggets only have 8 games left against top 4 seeds in each conference. They *should* finish top 4 in the conference which is good enough for MVP with the stats he's putting up (when you consider that Westbrook won it with a .. 6 or 7 seed?)

Should and will ... yet to be seen with the inconsistent play of the nuggets

I would have said the same earlier in the season, but the Nuggets are just 3 games behind the Lakers right now.

Right there plenty time catch up to the lakers and get top 4 seed . If they don’t then no he not going win it . If Lebron and Jokic finish 2 and 3 it’s going be neck and neck finish

The way the Mavs are rolling and the young euro stud Luka is rolling he is coming fast . I think within a few weeks if the Mavs keep rolling he will be in the thick of it.

Luka has to finish top 4 in the west and finish hard interms of playing well to have a legit chance.

Better player. Not as MVP candidate. Giannis is fourth on my MVP candidates. But KD is a better overall player

Embiid
Harden
Lebron
Giannis
Jokic

Durant is not a better overall player he is a better shooter and that is it! Giannis has now made 21 straight free throws since the all star game. His stroke looks so pure now if that continues no one is better in the league. 3rd triple double in a row Giannis is the better rebounder play maker and defensive player by a lot.
