What the hell was the point in signing Thompson for 2/$19 and passing on Baynes in the offseason, if only a few months later you're looking to dump Tristian for pennies for the exact same guy you passed on...

It’s like Ainge is just winging it at this point.

The Baynes part isnt actually reporting. The only actual reporting is that TT might get moved and Toronto's interested.

No, I mean Jaylen, who actually plays defense, will surpass Beal as an all around player and possibly as a scorer. He’s shown flashes this year.

He’ll never in his life be a scorer like beal

Jaylen has the physical tools to be an elite defender, but lacks the mental side. He plays defense, just not at a particularly high level.

And he will never, ever be on Beal’s level as a scorer. Beal is a legitimate alpha scorer, against defenses loading up on him. Jaylen feasts on other teams second best defenders, and consistent single coverage. Tatum will never even be on Beal’s level as a scorer, never mind JB.

Stuff like this is unfair to Jaylen, IMO.

Edit: Baynes is pretty tight with everyone on our team, he was a favourite.

Obviously it's just a rumor but why would the Celtics trade move TT to get Baynes? Only seen Baynes twice but he looks completely cooked.

1) We don't piss off Klutch and TT because I think we promised him the starting role
2) Because of point 1) we can finally start Rob Will as we should be doing
3) Baynes is loved and would accept the role he'd be given and genuinely loves Boston as a city (wanted to stay)
4) Have you seen him in the locker room like Tommy H? No more needs to be said.

Could we get Baynes as our 4th big without losing our current 3?
Having depth at the C for the 2nd half and playoffs might help.
One injury only gives us 2 Cs and bigs can get banged up.

You get off the 2nd year if you want to. You clear out a guy that brings nothing but great offensive rebounding (offensive rebounding that is worth a fraction of what it should be). Baynes becomes the clear 3rd string center. Maybe Baynes can handle the bullies at least as well as Thompson? Offensively, his shooting would still make me more comfortable than having Thompson on the floor clogging the paint and shooting bully hook floaters.

Good front offices realize when they make a mistake. It happens. If you have a chance to get off that mistake, then you ignore the noise it will bring and do it.

Maybe Thompson will have a different impact in the postseason, I don't know. If this is who he is, then I would do Baynes for Thompson in a heartbeat.

We clearly promised him a starting role. That's why he plays no matter how terrible he plays. Starts like clockwork.

Clearly the org is ready to move on and see a lot more of Rob and bring Theis back into heaver rotation. TT seems like a nice guy, just didn't work out

Maybe we add Baynes without moving TT.
Baynes knows Steven's defensive schemes.
Plus he has played a lot with Smart, JB and JT.

I think people who think this report coming means TT already has a foot out the door are being a bit premature

Yeah, I think if he got benched as opposed to Theis last night, I'd be ringing the alarm bells.

But Theis was benched, not him.

They need to move one big. TimeLord is just too good and cheap to be moving this point and has by faaaaaar the highest upside of any of them. One of them is gone. The two big line-up stinks and with Smart and Kemba back means one big is going to riding the pine every night.

Careful.

Don't you go ruining my Baynes dream, or you'll be one foot out the door.

I will have no regrets trading you for cash considerations.

NONE.

I keep coming back to Knicks needing some bigs. I could see 3 way deal.

TT to Toronto
Baynes to Knicks
2nd round pick to Boston and create another TPE :o

Theis can play PF or C. We're something like at least +4.4 when he plays either position. He can start and he can come off the bench. You can pair him with Rob or not. Paired with Rob, we're +32 net rating or something ridiculous like that. I think if the Thompson to TOR thing happens, it's part of a bigger trade or is contingent to that bigger trade to get under the tax. Theis could be gone in the offseason depending on what happens to Kemba.

I'm not sure if this might play a part or not, but Tristan is from a Toronto suburb, so a trade to the Raptors would be some sort of homecoming for him.
