Regardless if the Celts get Barnes or not, the Celts will be a tax payer next season.

That's why Ainge and the Celts only went as high as 25m per year on Hayward.

Only way the Celts avoid becoming a tax payer is if they get rid of Kemba's contract.

Now if the Celtics acquire LMA I’ll just turn off the game if/when he plays. RWill/Tacko/LMA there you go depth chart:)

Hello, it is me again. Rising from the ashes of what I believe to be a 2 year posting slumber. I was actually in the park when they were shooting it with his number on the back (Although I can't remember now whether it said Aldridge or not). Here to claim my bi-annual credit for it. I believe LBF confirmed it as well since his misses is in the Celtics Marketing Department.

DAMN, welcome back fam!
I hope I did the story justice. Amazed you’re out there, and thanks for chiming in (then and now). Celtic nation is strong!

Now Zoya can you get us a list of Celtics to have worn #12 stat? Todd Day? (Or was he 13?)

Celts will not pay tax if it's Harrison Barnes.

Barnes has a declining contract.

This season he's 22.2m.
Next season he will be 20.3m.
And in the last season of his contract, he'll just be 18.35m.

You have to send out ~$7M to not pay it this year. Grant and 1st for Barnes sans other moves = tax.

Yes, I'm assuming Ainge makes another move.

If TT or Theis gets moved then the Celts will not pay tax this year.

But you avoid it THIS year to reset the repeater tax.

Sure, and if he does that, then I'm good bringing in Barnes.

Agree.

That's why I think trading TT to Toronto makes sense because it's the solution to avoiding the tax this year.

If not TT then moving Theis could also be an option.

Agree on Timelord, but I don't see a cheap veteran out there who is significantly better than what we have. Maybe George Hill would help, maybe not. The best option is probably Harrison Barnes, but that will require a team taking TT off our hands. We become hard capped at 139M and the tax line is 132.6 million. The Celtics are at roughly 120M of payroll at the moment and Barnes makes 22M.

Makes sense if the Celts trade TT to a team like Toronto for a draft pick then use the TPE on Barnes.

That will put the Celts below the tax line.

Toronto doesn't have the cap space. Salaries would have to match. Besides, why should the go into the tax to do the Celtics a favor?
It has to be OKC or the Knicks if we are trading TT. And then it would be TT and one of OUR picks for cash or a top 55 protected 2nd rounder.
Alternatively, the Kings would have to take him after they shed Barnes. The Kings are right at the cap now, so Barnes into the Celtics' TPE puts then at $87M so the could take up to $22M off the Celtics hands, if incentivized to do so.

That'd be cool to hear. Wish more bands played deeper covers. My fav local band played Jigsaw Puzzle by the Stones. Ima drummer, what do you play?

For the time being, I'd rename the thread 'Enjoy the Silence' or 'Wicked Game.'

Grant, tt edwards either nesmith or romeo for barnes is even better. Take back a vet min player or two. We avoid tax and keep tpe for offseason.

Probably this year's first

I think that TT to Toronto rumors came from the Toronto side.

And it's not Toronto doing the Celts a favor because the Raptors badly need a Center.

If it were up to me, I wouldn't trade TT to Toronto.
