Or management promised him big buckets and agreed to be traded. DLo v2.0 signing?

Chris Mullin says Oubre is the perfect fit for the Warriors and that if Klay can join Oubre and Wiggins that vaults the Warriors to the top of the Western Conference.

Lonzo is a spot up shooter a lot, but he’s also a great passer, which works well in their motion offense. And he’s great in transition.
Pels run a motion-heavy offense... and they're trying to trade Lonzo right?

If the Warriors trade Oubre that says to me they don't have faith in James Wiseman.

I love this idea but if it comes down to either Wigs or Oubre...I'm saying trade Wiggins and keep Oubre. I love them both, very different players but excellent additions in their own way.
Wiggins is consistent and solid, particularly on the defensive end and he would be an ideal third option after Steph and Klay.
Oubre is not as consistent but he's a world class athlete and incredibly dynamic. He always effects the game and I'm confident he will continue to get more comfortable playing in Kerr's system and with our personnel.
If I had to pick one, I'm picking Oubre and I'm confident someone will take Wiggins if salary relief is what we want in return.
The hottest of takes...

Oubre has proven himself to not be a fit even at his current yearly salary. Paying him more would be foolish IMO and would either indicate the braintrust not recognizing it or (more likely) so desperate to not care.
There is a third possibility, that they believe he can and does fit and can be a valuable contributor.
Or they're unable to trade him at the deadline and they have reason to believe Klay won't be ready at the start of next season so they have no other choice but to try to extend him, up to a certain price.
Because otherwise, they can't add someone making over $10 million a year.
I haven't been dissecting the Warriors' financials yet this season, so someone can correct me if I'm not getting it, but my assumption is that the Warriors are so capped out that the only way they can add or keep talent (aside from doing something crazy like trading one of their big three) is by paying the guys whose rights they control. So in that sense they can't afford NOT to pay Oubre. I really don't see how they can add a piece better than Oubre unless they also move that Minny pick. And I would like to see that Minny pick on the Warriors roster - it's not that often that the Warriors can add top-tier draft talent. Warriors paid an awful lot of tax to acquire Oubre. I think they did that because they see Oubre as a core piece of the next Warriors Championship team, and not to keep a holding place under the cap for some future unknown player who might or might not want to play with the Warriors.

Why does it come down to either/or, so the Warriors owners can save some tax dollars?
I would keep Oubre over Wiggins but want to keep both, and trading Wiggins means attaching a first-rounder to him and maybe taking back some bad contracts.

Chris Mullin ran this franchise into the ground with his personnel calls

I figured there would be a "Chris Mullin is an idiot" objection. But wasn't Mullin the GM the last time the Warriors went to the playoffs, before the Lacob era? We Believe?

The Warriors think they can contend next season. And that James Wiseman will be a big reason why. No need to tear things up if you think you can contend with some tweaks as opposed to a major rebuild.

So because he was better than Twardzik and St Jean his opinions carry weight?
He was awful. He was briefly involved with the Kings FO and they made horrible decisions too. And has since not been involved with anyone's front office.

You know that's a really huge stretch to tie Oubre and his lack of BBIQ as an indictment of Wiseman's talent.
Maybe Oubre's not worth an extension? Maybe his skillset doesnt help our team and can be better used on someone with better awareness?

He’s playing really well and supposedly they took him off the block. Just admit you haven’t seen him play and move along

I'm not worried about Oubre's BBIQ and awareness. And I think the Warriors love him. I think some fans made a snap decision about Oubre and now they feel they have to keep it up even after Oubre has proved them wrong. It's ok to change ones assessment - I changed mine about Wiseman. I didn't like him, I thought LaMelo was the best player in the draft. But now I love Wiseman - he needs a lot of development but you can see he is going to be a very good player, and possibly great.

Good assessments shouldnt change based on whether or not the player is hitting shots.
Horrible defensive rotations (getting worse actually) but at least he's not getting in Steph's way anymore? Meanwhile we got him for what's likely a 2nd and its very unlikely he's raised his value.. and we're supposed to believe the W's are excited about signing him to his next deal?

I read that the Warriors were offered Lonzo in trade and turned it down. Do you think that's wrong? Lonzo makes no sense to me as a Warrior but if the Warriors like him better than Oubre and see him as a long term piece I'm sure they could make that happen.

Ok, Chris Mullin is awful so whatever he says, Warriors should do the opposite.

Don't you think if Oubre was blowing his assignments, Kerr would yank him?

Warriors have a ~top 5 defense and it's because Oubre is a terrible defender.
