How many minutes should he play in the average playoff game

How many minutes would he need to average in the regular season to be a legitimate DPOY candidate?

I think he should play like 20-25 mpg in playoff games (assuming he's not shooting like 20% from three in the series).

https://www.basketball-reference.com/awards/dpoy.html

Based on history, you pretty much have to play 30+ mpg to even get consideration as a viable candidate for the award.

So short of Thybulle becoming a 10-12 ppg guy that can play starter's minutes, he'll likely never be in consideration for the award.

Some team will play him 30+ minutes at some point in career despite his offense, I'm certain of it.

Due to positional limitation he won't ever impact a defense as much as Joel Embiid does right now. He has the tools to be an ATG guard/wing defender though and some of the best instincts I've ever seen

How should the team and Matisse himself go about improving his offensive output? Is it simply about the three or should he try to get to the line more and work on getting buckets other ways? Also how is his shot from a technical perspective and what might he need to tweak to make it more consistent?

Straight up fine tune his jumper to the point where he's a dependable c&s threat because then he's a bonafide starter in this league. He already has solid awareness and is a good cutter. He needs to be able to space the floor and knock down open 3's though for his value to shine through

Yeah, it's about the 3 catch and shoot.

Besides that he's fine for a 3+D guy, but he really needs to improve that shot to be a starter in this league.

Yes it's about him getting a 36% three pointer but also just gaining some offensive awareness. You'd think as a defender that's able to read offenses so well he'd be able to turn that around into some kind of awareness of where to be/what to to with the ball when he gets it, but often he just looks lost or he won't even move from the corner. Crash the boards, make some cuts, make the right pass etc.

But yeah even just shooting the thing with confidence will fix a lot of his issues

Is he worse on offense right now than Andre Roberson ever was? I think offensively he's pretty good instinctively but has such a low skill level with his ball handling that he commits turnovers or allows the defense to neutralize the advantage created earlier in the possession when the ball finds him. He's not afraid to let loose on the 3s so that's good at least.

He needs to really work on his skill package in the offseasons. There are examples of raw offensive players working and developing ability other than shooting. He's some improvement on that end from eventually getting an 80+ million dollar deal.

"We went to, I want to say Houston, and Elton was on the trip with us, and he hit me up and was like, 'Hey, do you want to get together on one of these days on the trip?'" Thybulle explained. "I was like, 'Yeah, of course, that would be great.' He takes me to an art museum in Houston because he knows I'm interested in photography, and I'm named after a painter..."

"We spent like a couple of hours talking hoops, talking art -- we talked everywhere from Malcolm Gladwell to M. Night Shyamalan to his time at Wharton. It was a really cool experience as a rookie to have the GM kind of pour into me like that. Also, just being hurt and the things that come with that mentally, [he made me] feel like I was still a part of everything. It was pretty cool. It was a special moment for me."

Kind of a cool little story. They both seem like good guys off the court.

I’d bet he is starting for the Sixers next year. Maybe even sooner.

The only way he’s not starting next season or the season after as a Sixer is because he was traded in a package for a superstar.
But I want him to stay.

Yes. He's become a very positive part of our team's identity, something like a new RoCo.

Hitting the 3 better , eventually i would like to see him incorporate the straight line drive. Hes the type of athlete that could draw fouls getting to the rim.

Great story. You know I don't have many regrets in my life. But if I had to do it all over again. I would have become a basketball player or a basketball GM, instead of the profession I have right now. I mean I love what I do but hanging out at art galleries talking shop during the season sounds awesome.

I shook Darius Miller's hand one time and that was enough to tell me I would have never been qualified for anything past the high school level. And it's not like my hands are necessarily small compared to the average person.

Additionally, it's remarkable to see the height difference between me (6'1) and him (6'6-6'8). Playing basketball against the scrubs of UK at that time was enlightening.

Yeah I picked incorrectly, not bad not bad at all. 140% match? That can't be right...can it ? Oh well it's a small group of guys that can actually do this kind of work at this level. So more power to them. That said I like how Thybulle has been playing keep hitting those 3's young fella.

If you make it to be a 10-year NBA veteran, you’ll be getting about $100K per year after you retire. The 401(k) plan is rated at 92 by BrightScope, and will match 140% of your contributions, according to Sports Illustrated.

His play is inspiring, although I'm not sure if the coaching staff is ready to trust him in the playoffs over Green. I do think if the right deal presents itself, we should feel comfortable sending Green out knowing we have him though.

He looks like he's improving on defense which should be absolutely terrifying for other teams. At this ratae. asa a 24yo, 2nd year player, interesting to imagine his defensive peak at this trajectory
