Sam Amick now saying SAC isn't as open to moving Barnes as initially perceived. That they need to be blown away by an offer before they trade him.

I don’t blame them. What’s the rush? They stink with him, so it’s not like he’s going to ruin their tank. Got another 2 years left on his deal. Kings don’t much salary going into next year so they’ll have to spend that money one way or another just to meet the floor. Not too many free agents hoping to get a call from the Kings either.

They are also stupid. We literally saw Horford, who was older and a lesser player than Hayward, opt out and secure $27 million/year over 4 years. People who thought Hayward would opt back in either don’t understand economics or had green-tinted glasses on. It was a no-brainer for him to opt out.

Horford opted out when there was no pandemic.

Hindsight is always 20-20.
Easy to come to a conclusion now because we already know what happened.

Before Hayward opted out, nobody really knew if Hayward was healthy.
We all saw how bad he played against Miami in the east finals.

What Scal and other analysts were saying was Hayward would opt in because it was a given that there would be an extension waiting for Hayward.

Celtics - Get a young PF to pair with the Jays, Barnes a nice wing, and bring back a Celtics legend to be the 3rd PG/Assistant Coach... plus, keep the TPE for the offseason... then I'd probably do the Thompson for Baynes deal just to get bigger and bring back someone who probably wouldn't mind a reduced role

PP/Langford/Semi/Collins/Rob
Rondo/Teague/Grant/Baynes

Magic - Get a PG to go along with Vuc and Issac. They can pretty much rest him for the rest of this season and gear up for when Issac returns. They would want more, I'm just not sure how much more, maybe Theis but I'm not sure that they need him.

Hawks - Get two nice vets for a player they didn't want to play. Both guys should fit nicely with Trae

Kings - Get a nice young lotto pick, another 1st, and a couple of expiring vets (likely buyout candidates)

I like it but I do not think you bring collins off the bench. Barnes comes off bench

Maybe that's why there's really no pressure on Ainge.

Ainge must be thinking even if he doesn't make moves at the trade deadline, fans will still watch Celtic games no matter what.

Yeah Fierce that'd take many years (and I'm not rooting for it). It's not going to help convince Wyc to use the TPE this season, for example. The average in-attendance fan has no idea what a TPE or the luxury tax is.
