Re: Around the NFL Thread
We have our first non-released FA agreement: Patriots have reached an agreement with TE Jonnu Smith on a 4 year deal worth $50M, 31.5M fully guaranteed. The full guarantee is a record for a TE. Smith's AAV is the 3rd highest.

Chargers and C Corey Linsley agree on a 5 year, $62.5M deal. Linsley gets $26M guaranteed in the first 2 years. Highest paid C in the league.

They need tackles.
Mahomes restructured his deal. But what about Jones?

Mahomes and Jones did. Kelce did not.

Bud Dupree to the Titans
And yes, Shams Charania reports that Jameis Winston is re-signing with the Saints.

His production hasn't been great. OK but not Pro Bowl level.
Must be paying for potential.

Man all the drama with Rothlisberger, lowering his cap number and the Steelers let him walk? Maybe because of the injury?

The big late night agreement: Washington and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick agree on a 1 year deal, worth $10M, incentives can take it to $12M. Looks like a QB battle this summer with Taylor Heinicke.

Do it Pete & Schneider, DO IT!!!!
Pete Carroll high on Sam Darnold as possible Russell Wilson replacement
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has a high opinion of Sam Darnold and could end up trading for the Jets quarterback if Seattle deals Russell Wilson, a league source told the Daily News on Monday.
“Keep an eye on Seattle for Darnold,” the source said.
Do it Pete & Schneider, DO IT!!!!

It's probably because Dupree isn't that good. He has pretty good sack numbers, but he's only okay. Not worth the money he's getting. PFF had him just a few points higher than Ebukam last year (60.2 vs. 56.9), and Ebukam almost certainly had a higher pressure rate this past season. Dupree has been helped immensely by arguably being the fourth-best player on that OL. Granted you could say the same thing about Ebukam, he's just costing about 1/3 as much on a shorter-term deal.

Very good deal for him. Considering the guaranteed in this contract, his agent needs a round of applause.

I disagree. Dupree is a good player, albeit not a great one. Still I agree with the point that you’re making in terms of him being overpaid. What are the figures on his deal, I didn’t see any posted anywhere.

SHAQUILL GRIFFIN
DB, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Jaguars signed CB Shaquill Griffin, formerly of the Seahawks, to a three-year, $44.5 million contract.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the deal includes $29 million guaranteed for Griffin. The Jaguars are using some of their enormous cap space on a marked secondary upgrade. Griffin, 25, was among the best cornerbacks available in free agency. His departure from Seattle is a blow to the Seahawks' defense, which was graded by Pro Football Focus as 2020's 17th best coverage unit.

Re: Around the NFL Thread
HUNTER HENRY
TE, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
Patriots signed TE Hunter Henry, formerly of the Chargers, to a three-year, $37.5 million contract.
Henry's deal includes $25 million guaranteed. The Patriots have now landed both of free agency's top tight ends in Henry and Jonnu Smith, who on Monday signed a four-year, $50 million deal with New England ($31.25 million guaranteed). There will be loose talk of the Patriots trying to revive the team's Rob Gronkowski-Aaron Hernandez offense from years ago. There is a slight difference, however, between career prime Tom Brady and late-career Cam Newton. Barring a total overhaul of New England's run-heavy, Cam-led offense, the Henry signing all but ensures neither tight end will be a startable fantasy option in 12-team leagues this season. Henry departing LA leaves Donald Parham -- he of much fantasy football intrigue -- as the favorite to start at tight end in Justin Herbert's offense.

VON MILLER
LB, DENVER BRONCOS
Broncos exercised the $7 million guarantee option on Von Miller's $18 million salary for 2021.
Miller will stay in Denver for the final year of his deal following speculation that the team would let him walk. The team would have created $13.875 million in salary cap space by cutting Miller, who carries a whopping cap figure of $22.125 million in 2021. Charges against Miller in an alleged domestic violence case brought by his ex-fiancee were dropped in early March, resolving legal issues that hung over the Broncos' decision making for months. NFL Network's James Palmer said the all-pro has fully recovered from the ankle/foot injury that kept him sidelined for the entirety of the 2020 season.
