Only if he to replace Foles as backup as the Bears send Foles back to Philly (hopefully). Because if Dalton is the "big" QB acquisition of the off-season then Pace should do the Bears a favor and resign.

What ever happened to Dalton? He seemed to have a promising young career, but I haven't followed the NFL (outside of the Bears) much the past few years. Did he just get old, or fall off a cliff? Was he never really that good?

Andy Dalton? And he is significantly better than Nick Foles how?

As I said earlier in this thread, the Bears are screwed and that starts with the QB situation. Media and fans assume that Pace/Nagy must win in 2021. Their QB situation paired with their cap situation makes this improbable at best. My hope is that they don't get stupid desperate. Desperation is fine for players who find their backs against the wall in a game. Desperation is really a bad thing for those who need to be looking at the long-term health of the organization. Chess not checkers, guys. Pace needs to be straight with his management, establish reasonable expectations and then be smart in his decisions.

Well, this is going to save me any time I would have wasted watching the Bears this season. Pace either has some big move lined up or he tapped out on trying to win anything in the foreseeable future. I'm banking on the latter.

I think they may revolutionize the game by using Foles against left-handed defenses and Dalton against right-handed defenses.

Maybe McCaskey already told Pace that he can’t spend future assets. They have chalked this season up as a fail. Take the profits from this year, don’t pay another coach since Nagy/pace under contract.

Another year they make money, have someone’s head on the chopping block if it crashes, and a new cycle of sub-par performance/renewed fan enthusiasm begins. Primary goal is always the money. Second is preservation of the system that makes money. Third is winning.

Of course, this is all speculation. But not nearly as far fetched as getting Russell Wilson or deshaun Watson. I never believed those were possible even with all the news chatter

I cannot believe that this team could be this incompetent. It’s as if they actively sought out one of the single worst moves they could have made. For this, why not just keep Mitch? It’s as if they are hell bent on trying to get the world to believe that Mitch was the alpha and omega to all the Bears offensive woes. This, despite the fact that we all saw differently. What a way to give a big F you to the fans man.

Hahah went from Wilson/Watson to Dalton. It’s like dreaming you will get a Ferrari and instead you get a Hyundai. They should just trade their other top players and tank. Next season is already over before it began

Why did they tinker with contracts to free up cap space?

They need to sell off the defense now while they have value.

18M for Glennon, 3rd overall pick and two 3rd round picks for the one bad QB out of the three options, 4th round pick for Foles, $10M for Dalton.

Absolutely comical that Pace has a job still.

No way Dalton is the starter, they know they're getting fired with Dalton.

But if it is what it is, later Pace/Nagy.

This isn’t about Wilson or Watson. They were always long shots as neither of their teams have really demonstrated a desire to even trade them.

No, this is about the fact that there were other avenues that we could have gone for other guys. Including just rolling with the guy that we had. This feels like an active attempt to screw this team up.
