Nearly 2.5 mil for a below average kicker? Well, at least it's just a 1 year deal.

To be fair, he was a solid kicker prior to last season.

Damn....Fitzpatrick huh? That guy is a cowboy, but maybe he can get that magic one more time and lead WFT to the promised land.

I really don’t get this signing. 38 year old gunslinger. Turnover prone. $12m/year.

That's on the high side, but unless they have a replacement, ya gotta pay to keep your good players.

I would have at least waited till after the draft. It's never a good thing to rush to overpay a player who has no chance to be part of the future. And It's not a requirement that they have to have a 38 year old QB.

So we're using our cap space to sign a 38 year old journeyman QB instead of a starting CB who just entered his prime. Granted, QB's obviously a much more important position, but still - a 38 year old journeyman is a 38 year old journeyman.

Agreed, especially considering secondary was already place they had to shore up. Maybe they already have someone targeted in the draft?

Considering the market for the QB position, I'm fine with the timing and the cost. And nothing they've done precludes them from pursuing someone in the draft if they want to go that route (although I'd rather see them shore up everywhere else in 2021 and then go all-in on a QB of the future next draft).

Washington loses another defensive starter - Kevin Pierre-Louis - to Houston for 2 years at 4 mil per year. Skins were already short on LBers.

Darby and KPL are both highly replaceable. You don't really spend good cap dollars on those type of guys tbh. Darby played 16 games for the first time in his career, and that was great for his bank account. I honestly don't see that continuing.

I think you're underrating Darby. Players with his kind of speed (sub 4.4) and leaping ability (41.5 inch vertical) that also have good cover skills are hard to find and expensive to keep. KPL - yes, he's very replacable, but that's another hole on the team that needs to be filled.

I like the idea of trying to get a discount at QB and trying to fill out the rest of the roster, but seems like we went cheap on QB and have failed to do much in free agency..

Why not just keep Alex Smith?

Fitzpatrick is cheaper and he's just flat out better...

We still have cap room to go do other things . Fitz is a good stop gap and if he does get best out is a great **** back up. Obviously the D needs reinforced but, that being said, the D isn't all about personal here is scheme. So to ab extent if you can find serviceable guys you can pull and play. You need guys that can stay in the field, and until proven other wise there isn't a reason to over pay replaceable plug and play guys. We arnt loosing any one who can't be replaced just yet.

Outside of putting the tag on Scherff, Ron & co. have been having an excellent free agency period. I loved how they sat out on any big deals Day 1.

Fitz as a 1 year stopgap is an excellent signing. He's gotten way better the past 3 seasons - his accuracy is up and, even though he is prone to throwing picks, when he gets hot, he becomes a top 10 level QB.

William Jackson at 14 per is an excellent signing. Now we have a legit #1 CB.

It's been reported that a bunch of WRs will have to take bargain 1 year deals because teams are waiting on the draft, which is exceptionally deep with WR talent, especially slot talent
