Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
We should trade for Mason Plumlee.
Biz + McDaniels + 2nd for Plumlee.
Plumlee is probably better than Cody is, but he is 31 so I doubt his trade value is very high. Especially considering his contract is 3 years long.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
3-team trade.
Charlotte trades: Graham + PJ + Biz
Charlotte gets: Jarrett Allen, Wes Matthews (buyout)
Cleveland trades: Allen + JaVale
Cleveland gets: PJ, Biz and Gasol (buyout)
LAL trades: Gasol + Matthews
LAL gets: Graham + JaVale
LAL gets deeper and better.
We get a young center
CLE gets a rebuild package.
Obviously a few picks would be traded too. Cleveland would get most of them, and we'd get a 2nd for swapping Graham for Wes.

I'm a lurker now but not to this extreme. If I knew how to hack I'd target RNC and reveal Kompromat on Lindsay Graham and just end the charade.
It has been written...

I would rather send someone or even a few players to Dallas for Porzingis and a few draft picks...since he is always injured and is very expensive.

Bonnell saying on twitter that Charlotte has called the Pacers about Myles Turner. They would probably want Zeller and a guard right?

Start with Zeller + PJ/Miles + 1st. Not sure I'd be willing to make that move especially if PJ is involved.

Definitely don’t want to lose PJ or Miles tbh. Zeller isn’t the C I’d want to get rid of necessarily but would be necessary for the trade. What about Devaunte, Zeller and a 1st?

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
I think people are seriously overvaluing Turner. The blocked shots are nice, but outside of that hes a 13/6 guy who will probably never make an all star team or all-NBA team. Hes not really versatile at all on defense and offensive role is stand at the 3pt line all game and shoot 35%.If Indiana wants any of our 1sts or PJ for him, let alone both, then we should just walk away. That probably is the case because it doesn't really seem like Indiana is motivated to trade him, so they have no reason to accept a deal that doesn't blow them away. I guess I might be willing to give up a 1st if its got some decent protection and they aren't giving anything else up except Zeller and filler, but I doubt Indiana would accept any deals thats legit good for us.
I hope these rumors are just the front office doing their due diligence and they arent acting desperate for no reason. I hope the front office views this teams actual window as being when LaMelo starts to enter his prime and aren't looking to throw in all their chips on the Hayward window.

Ya, I think I like him too. He might actually be pretty cheap, which is why I might be interested, but idk.

I'm also not even sure that Turner is a better rebounder than Zeller.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
Trading for a player like Holmes on the cheap or plucking someone like Gorgui Dieng off the waiver wire who is likely to be bought out at the deadline makes much more sense than selling half the farm for Myles Turner...

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
To be completely honest I really don’t want to trade anyone before the deadline. I really don’t see a reason to rush a solution while the team chemistry is so good, when we could have a much better chance at working on the center issue during the off-season. It is fun to talk about, though.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
The Pacers value a bird in the hand over two in the bush. They don't trade players for picks. If they move Turner they're going to want current NBA rotation players coming back. We'd take a big hit to our depth, which already isn't great.
If we make a move it should be for a guy we can get for a cheaper price like Holmes, who we could probably get with one of our big prospects or a future 2nd (assuming he is going to leave Sacramento).

Getting Holmes for a 2nd or two and filler would be fantastic. It looks like Sacramento is more motivated to trade some of their other vets who could get bigger returns, but it doesn't look like there will be much of a buyers market this season, so they might find more interest in getting some value out of Holmes if they aren't getting decent offers for Hield and Barnes. I can't imagine any team giving up a 1st for Holmes and hed be crazy to resign in Sacramento after this season, so they might as well get what they can unless they happen to know that he just really likes Sacrament for some reason.

How much would it cost to get Sabonis?
I doubt we could get him, but I'd rather go after him than Myles. Probably would need at least 2 1st's though.

The cap hold thing probably won't matter. I think they'll likely be trying to operate over the cap to open up the MLE, in which case they are actually going to want to pick up Monk and/or Zellers cap holds. Even if they renounce them all and open up the maximum cap space they can it will still won't be enough to sign a big contract while also filling out a rotation and the free agent market this year is really weak, so the offseason will likely just be signing a few cheaper/middling contracts to fill out depth
Like, the can renounce all holds except Devonte, then they'll have like 20-25 mil to spend on anyone they want from a crappy free agent class and also resign Devonte, or they can pick up the holds for Tae, Monk, and Zeller, and also have the MLE (about 10 mil).

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
I don't think we need help on the boards, we're right in the middle of the pack in our DRB% (16th overall) and top 10 in ORB%.
I agree that Turner is overrated if you think he's going to come in and dominate the boards. But I think his defense is significantly underrated around here and I think he would be a huge get for us. Here's why:
I agree that Turner is overrated if you think he's going to come in and dominate the boards. But I think his defense is significantly underrated around here and I think he would be a huge get for us. Here's why:
But now, after five seasons of steady overall growth and dominant defensive play, Turner has taken his talents on the less glamorous end of the court to another level. In the 2020-21 season, his defensive box plus-minus sits at +3.0, which is tied for the best mark in the NBA. His block rate is currently at a league-leading level. And he’s sticking with perimeter players better than he ever has in the past. To put it bluntly: Myles Turner is playing like the best defensive player in the NBA.
...
The coaching change has the blue and gold playing much more aggressively on defense. Guards and wings swarm the ball and fly around. When those perimeter players get beat with a dribble move or with a pass, it’s up to Turner to cover for their mistakes. On top of that, he is forced to pounce on ball handlers himself when he gets switched on to shot creators.
That duality has been no problem for the defensive great so far. “He’s so active,” Bjorkgren said of Turner on defense. “His aggressiveness on the defensive end is what I continue to praise. His job is difficult a lot of times.”
Bjorkgren, who simply loves talking about basketball, explained something specific that he admires about his starting center on defense: that Turner thrives defending two players by himself. The Pacers coach detailed that the big man has to deal with a player who is putting pressure on the paint and a cutter at the same time. Yet Turner succeeds often in those scenarios. He turns what is usually a sticky situation into an advantage for the Pacers.
...
Turner’s influence on the game gives his teammates more confidence in their own roles. Pacers’ perimeter defenders can be more aggressive, like their new coach wants, and more confident knowing that on the infrequent occasion that they do get beat or make a mistake, Myles is behind them to keep things in order. His presence allows Indiana backcourt players to play more freely, which improves everyone’s effectiveness on defense.
...
That difference becomes even more dramatic when fellow center Domantas Sabonis is removed from the equation. When Turner is the only center on the court for the blue and gold, the Pacers have conceded 217 points in 216 trips down the court, good for an elite defensive rating of 100.5. When Turner is captaining the defense, the Pacers are impossible to score on.
