Well... Green... i can live with that.

Keon Johnson over moody and Bouknight? wow thats... weird. I guess sharing with another lotto guard means he cant showcase as much as the other 2

Agree, when you are in the top 5 IN a top5 draft pick, you screw need over the BPA. Especially with a roster like ours where we need help in every position except probably C. Good thing there is no clear cut C in the top5..or 10 lol (and no, I think Mobley is too weak to be a C ).

However, I would pick Moody , Bouknight , heck even Johnson over Barnes right now. It could change thought once the tourney starts and we can dissect their games more.

Question, since I think Barnes is like a mini-AG and thus have him in the 4 slot, would you pick Barnes over JI in the starting lineup?

I don’t understand the “mini-AG” comp for Barnes.

AG was / is a freak athlete with little to no basketball understanding or identity. AG has surely improved as a basketball player and solidified himself as a nice NBA player but not nearly the way we would have hoped after so many years.

Barnes is actually not an overwhelming athlete despite his great size and length. He does however have an amazing feel for the game all around, especially on defense, with the one exception being shooting. His awareness at the forward position is impressive.

I think nbadraft.net comparing Barnes to Jabari Parker / Draymond Green is good. Barnes will NOT be either of these guys. He will be somewhere in between. But this is a better idea of the type of player he is. Not AG.

I call Barnes AG-like is because they are both in the 6'8 range, athletic with no clear cut position of either a 3 or 4. Also their points usually comes in the paint.

AG now improved his 3pt shot and maybe Barnes can as well. Ball handling wise Barnes to.me doesnt have the tight handles like AG as well.

Barnes is outside my top 5 and I would probably go for Moody and perhaps others before him. So this is not a sales pitch to convince you he should be our guy.

But since you seem interested in talking a lot about him, it sounds like you should watch more tape on him. Just comparing their height, ability to switch positions and handles is not a very detailed scouting report. You have missed everything which makes these guys unique.

LOL.. Im not at all interested in him especially cuz I see him in the mold of our previous picks in the ag/ji/okeke type.

The only reason I talk about him is because a few pages back i was curious why so many here are high on him so I determined to watch more full games on him. And as I observed on the UNC game, everything being said checks out EXCEPT the simmons/magic conparison which I dont see at all.

I would absolutely hate to be the team who passed on Suggs/Green for Mobley. It would be the classic passing on a skilled guard like Luka/Young for an offensive big like Ayton/Bagley.

I foresee it aging just as poorly.

Cavs would be that exact team to do it honestly.

exactly. Teams have won with journey-men type of big men, but you need some good-great wing players

Somehow, I don’t feel like I have done a full deep dive into Jalen Suggs. I have not watched a full game of his since the early season.

I have been focused on Cade, FSU + Baylor (my schools) and the G-league.

I hope to see plenty of Suggs in the Tournament. If we land inside the top 5 in after the draft lottery I will definitely go back and do more homework.

If we have a chance to find a franchise PG we have to do it. I’m sorry Fultz. I love the comeback story, but this is business.

Hopefully the Rockets can start winning some games and get ahead of the Magic. Wood was playing lights out offensively before he got hurt - 22 PPG, 11 RPG and shooting 56% from the field 42% from three.

Trading Tucker & Dipo will be interesting to see what they get back. Would imagine they'd be smart and continue the tank this late in the year. They have some solid cap space as well and could quickly rebuild.

Wall Gordon Wood Tate and say Cade or Suggs or Green would be sneaky good starting 5.

If there ever was a tanking team that needs Mobley its probably the Rockets. They already a very ball dominant player in Wall. And they only have Woods as their quality and legit big.

If the Wizards think they can keep Beal and he gets along with Westbrook (big $$ for 2 more years) then Mobley could be a nice option for them if they slide into the top 5.

True... WAS could use him. But I was only refering to the top 5 tanking.. or even top 8 which I think WAS would not be a part of. Rus and Beal will lead them to some wins to probably a play-in spot

Sure they could go on a run but as it stands, the East falls off after Toronto. Washington is currently 6th in the Tankathon.

TBH I think MEM CHI AND SAC will fall off and tank hard and therefore dislodge WAS spot.

Detroit just won their 11th game, pulling them within 2 of the Magic.

Sacramento won their 16th, putting 2 games of space between them and Orlando.

And Detroit's next game is against Houston, so a win-win there.

Excellent.. things are shaping up!!

All we need is a very good showing of Suggs in the ncaat to make this draft a clear cut Cade vs Suggs fornthe 1st pick. Although a good tourney run by Mobley could also boost him into the top 2 conversation just in case for us lol

Return to Orlando Magic
