Bullets sign Wes Unseld Jr. to 4-year contract to become the franchise's 25th head coach!

Post#1 » by FAH1223 » Wed Mar 17, 2021 9:00 pm

Alright, so Scott Brooks' 5 year $35M contract expires in a few months.

No secret extension has been announced yet.

No idea if the President of Basketball Operations post will be filled by a Masai Ujiri or some other figure like that.

But let's say that IT IS...

Who do you want to see as the next HC?

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum speak very highly of him.

Great guy. My cousin went to high school with him. Knows him well. He's been grinding for years. Would love to see him get a shot.

Not certain she should be the choice, but I hope Becky Harmon is on the list.

Juwan Howard

I feel the same way about Howard that you feel about EJ.

Juwan wanting to fight Mark Turgeon, all 5’10” and 175 pounds of him, because he “felt threatened“, just made me lose all respect for him. Real douche move IMO.
Bye bye Beal.

Ed Tapscott. He can coach them into perfect lottery position.
Bye bye Beal.

I wish they'd fire Brooks right now. Trade Lopez (and any other vet) and hopefully Bertans too. Figure things out with Westbrick and Beal in the summer. Tell the interim coach to put youngsters (Winston, Brown, Bonga) in rotation. And this time do a proper search for a coach instead of signing someone based on their reputation or just being a nice guy...

You don't fire him now if there is a chance you are bringing in a new GM. A new guy will want to make his own choice. I personally think the Masai rumors were simply floated by his agent as a means to start the Raptors thinking about what it will cost to retain him. And if he chooses to move on there will be a bidding war for his services, where almost every team in the league will ante up to sit at the table. If the Wizards have any chance (or interest) then the job becomes more attractive with: Beal, a high lottery pick, and an open seat at coach.

I want this too, but I am okay with tanking for a better pick. If you put all those guys into the rotation and hired a competent coach, they would start winning games.

I don't profess to know anything about his coaching abilities, but being the lead assistant coach of the worst team in basketball does not inspire confidence.

People have talked about Wes Unseld Jr.

Besides the obvious connections, would Wes be a good fit based on his body of work?
