I like Norm, but wouldn't it be better to see if IQ can assume a similar role in his 2nd year? You'd have no issues with Lonzo/IQ defensively as far as size goes, that's part of the problem I see with IQ long term, he's too small to guard SGs, but offensively he's a SG. Lonzo solves that problem, he can guard the 2s, and IQ takes the 1s.

Starting IQ year 2 will also raise his profile in case there's a star player that we can trade for too.

You can do that as well and make Powell the 6th man.

I thought you wanted Trent over starting IQ though

I want Lonzo over Trent, can't get them both IMO, would prefer the big PG in that case.

Lonzo is my top target this summer, we'd still have a hole at PG if we get Trent. I want Trent if we can't get Lonzo and we have to go into next season with Rose as our starting PG.

why?

quick question. When it's time to sign Randle and Mitch, can we go over the cap in doing so? If So we can trade for Ball, sign Lavine next off season and still keep our players

This is one of the worst takes that I have read on this board all year. I genuinely needed the laugh

He is laughably bad. At least Payton and Frank would come cheaper. 1.2 free throw attempts as a starting PG requires really special skills. One would go to the line more just by accident. Dude is actively avoiding contact because he knows he is horrible at the free throw line.

Kinda weird metric to say someone’s bad, when Payton and Frank are also terrible at drawing fouls too. Payton draws 2.2 fouls a game and he drives a ton more than Lonzo. One more foul shot a game is nothing to brag about when your game is build around attacking the rim. Which Payton isn’t even good at either. Lonzo is a great shooter and puts up high volume 3 pointers at nearly 40%. That’s a much better fit with our two “stars” moving forward. Idk where you’re getting Lonzo’s a bad free throw shooter from cuz he’s shooting 77% on the year. Maybe that woulda made sense last year but he’s much improved across the board.

I never know the answer to all these cap questions. The one good thing Dolan brings to the table is seemingly unlimited money for any player but he's not allowed to spend it. :noway:

You know Lavar wants it. I think he talked about it a lot in LA. New York is definitely just as good, if not better, for his marketing dream of all his sons playing together in the NBA. You know he’s probably going to be extra annoying when Lonzo gets here

OP, you're using some small samples as a examples for acquiring Lonzo (last 20 games and last games before the bubble). But why don't you just look at his complete history? Has he ever improved a team? Is he a great leader? He's had pieces on Pelicans and Lakers and yet these teams looked mediocre. I know both teams are in the competitive West but he doesn't have a track record of winning.

Good question. This is our currently cap situation:

I'm down for Lonzo. He's improved a lot this year, especially his jumpshot.

Lonzo would be by far the best PG we have had in the past 20 years.

In that case we'd also have to hire one of those circus employees whose only job is to follow the elephant with a shovel and a waste basket
