The Magic have been looking for point guard help, kicking the tires on Ricky Rubio recently. Celtics guard Kemba Walker remains a favorite of Magic coach Steve Clifford, but it’s unlikely Boston, without much depth behind Walker, will part with him at this point.

He also reports that the Celtics will likely ''pursue Barnes right up until the deadline''.
To sum up:
- Gordon, Fournier are available
- the Magic like Kemba
- the Celtics like Barnes
Would you guys do this trade?
Not me. No point in trading all 3 of AG, Fournier, and Bamba for a player possibly on the decline. Especially while we're trying to lose anyway.
Most of us want young players and/or picks for our players to help set us up for the future. I personally wouldn't mind helping the Celtics out since I actually like them. But not at the cost of our team.
They pull something like this to make a run at the playoffs (need a point guard), and also miss out on a top 5 pick, and I am out.

The real question is if they lose their pick, are they a playoff team, subbing Beasley for Cade in that line up. I’d be plenty skeptical

I’ll take a deal which includes RJ Hampton and their 2021 first rounder.
Eventually, a deal for a late first + a young prospect + fillers is the best I can ask for.

They haven’t been healthy all year and Edwards is just now starting to come alive. We haven’t seen their core play together more than a few games this season but when they did they were solid.
Add in Edwards emerging and it’s a new ballgame.
If they can somehow keep their pick and add another premier talent they will be hard to stop soon.

Since i know that theres no wtrade to be made involving MPj, id ask for Bol+hampton+2021FRP and cap filler for AG

Is he a prospect though? Seems to me he’s just young.

Well What's your definition of a prospect then?
He's super young, athletic, rookie 1st round pick with a ton of upside....seems like the very definition of a prospect?

.......for two future second round picks.
When asked why.. Weltham stated “We can already tell that the draft will flatten out”

Yep, two 2nd round picks that he can later sell for cash before the draft even starts. Like last year.

I'm just hoping the Magic can use Denver's interest in AG as leverage in trade talks with Minnesota.
Nowell/McDaniels... Gimme, Gimme, Gimme! The Washington Husky chemistry with Fultz would be fantastic!

AG is a good player, if we don’t make a trade I’m not mad. I value him higher than what the current rumors are.

It was rumored Denver had discussions but was not fully comfortable including MPjr in James Harden talks. Ultimately, most believed they would have pulled the trigger but their reluctance to include him in such a deal shows how high they value him.
... we aren’t getting MPjr for ANYTHING we have.

Re: Official Speculation Thread '20-'21 VII: Magic Expected To Retain Core
The problem with Minnesota is that they can't trade a 1st until 2023 and because of the protections on the 2021 pick they owe the Warriors, the Magic might not even see a hypothetical 2023 pick until 2024.
Plus Minnesota would probably want protections on the pick too, so are you really trading Gordon for a protected pick that's four drafts away?
So at that point if you're not getting a draft pick for four years, then it boils down to how much you like Wolves young players. Guys like Nowell, McDaniels, Okogie, Culver, etc.
