Yeah, questions about this comes up a ton, great to see a more recent reference about this.
Would have been great if it actually went intto some of the details that have changed further (i.e swaps used to be only allowed as unprotected, now can be protected etc)

Who is available that is cheap?
Can I interest you in a lightly-used Brad Wanamaker

What value would a team have letting the media know they want to trade for another player? I don't see a motive which makes me think it's pushed by Griffin to up Lonzos value to another team.
Another example is this narrative about the Lakers looking for big men. Reality is that Laker rumours have all been red herrings over last couple years. If you look at their roster the actual need is some great 3% shooters where Schroeder, Matthews and Markieff are majorly underperforming in this area. An upgrade of a starting PG and backup SG/SF is more likely to be there target if anything.

Why did the hawks go the BOgdan/Danilo route instead of Collins?

Not a bucks fan, but he may be a worst case options
Would think GS should keep Brad for the depth
Maybe IT for the bucks?
Theres some other cheap vets that may make more sense than both though when I took a look

None. But say Zach Lowe talks to 15 teams and 9 of them tell him Clippers are asking about our PG's. He doesn't have to be told that by the Clippers for it to be true.

Re: Free Agency, Rumors, Thoughts in General 2.0
Holmes over the last stretch is making himself a priority to the kings if they think can resign him
They are going to have to move salary because he’s not taking any mle
I think Barnes will def be gone. I’ll make the call it will be to Boston for Nesmith and maybe Pritchard/first but I think Boston will have the leverage. So just nesmith and a 2nd
Boston isn’t giving up firsts from what I saw tonight but I still think there will be pressure to compete. Not sure who else is attainable and fits their 2023 offseason plan I’ve heard of

If the Kings are giving up Barnes, that signals a reboot. If they are rebooting, why are they paying Holmes?

It doesn’t need to signal anything other than they need to move some serious salary to pay Holmes and Buddy’s value isn’t yet where it needs to be/can be (though he’s looked better recently)

IMO, likely parties outside of ownership are pushing news out. More likely leak came indirectly from Lonzo via agent or family memeber.

Head games. It works the opposite of the team trading a player wanting a higher price and trying to drive interest.
Let's say the Clippers want a different player on a 3rd team but the asking price is too high, if they can convince that 3rd team that they are closing in on a deal for Lonzo than maybe they panic and drop the price?
Let's say that the Clippers know that they do not have the assets to get Lonzo, but they know they need a PG and so they are going after George Hill. The issue is that the Thunder want a 1st for Hill and the Clippers are only willing to do 2 2nds, if they can convince the Thunder that they are getting Lonzo for the same price as the Thunder are asking for Hill than the Thunder will have to drop their price.

I think this is Klutch laying the groundwork for Lonzo getting a fat deal in RFA. In the past week alone, he's been linked to both the Clippers and Knicks, two big market teams on either coast.

In player agent circles, they call this the "Knicks".

Clippers seems like a poor target/example if so, as they can only realistically max out at around $15m if both Serge and Kawhi opt out and walk. Knicks, sure, with their nearly double max cap room.

They're saying "Hey look, our guy has great interest around the league, even for contending teams".

Re: Free Agency, Rumors, Thoughts in General 2.0
So what does Dipo, Lonzo and Lauri go for before the deadline?
I don’t see how Dipo gets you a 1st with him wanting MIA.
Lonzo maybe a 2nd and a young prospect?
Lauri... no idea.

Until Collins walks for nothing, I don't see it as one or the others. I know why they chased shooting though. Last season they were 30th in three point shooting percentage at 33.3 and this season they are 16th at 36.5. Their overall offensive rating is up from 25th last season to 10th.
Most media had the Hawks as the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd best off season. Injuries and a slow 30 game start put some doubts into that for sure. But with a new coach and the improved play things are settling in.
I see the Hawks as a solid 4th - 6th seed with the way they are playing. That is exceeding my expectations of 7 or 8 seed at the start of the season. Because of this improvement, I see it very likely Collins is kept for the long term. Read that as not even traded much less allowed to walk. Not one or the others. But both
