The Nba.com MVP ladder article is made by individual writers, not some poll. This one was made by Michael Wright, the first one in the season was made by the guy who passed etc. I think Wright has been doing it for a while and wants to bring attention to other candidates. Now has Lenron 3rd because the the Lakers are 7-7 since AD went down (which is slightly off as Lebron didn't even play one of those games).

But yeah it's the residual stink of the 4 game losing streak. You don't have to agree with it any more or less than Broussard, Shelbourne or any of the other vote getters

It will be interesting to see if Nurk can come back for Portland and regain his top form in time for the playoffs (if he can stay healthy). Luckily it was a wrist injury so he's had the ability to stay in shape and probably practice finishing with the off-hand. I could still see Portland making a fairly significant move at the deadline and moving Hood+young guys for something pretty good.

Huge LeBron fan since day 1 but Jokic is gonna get it and he deserves it. LeBrons gonna end up with another secon place finish because I think the Lakers are going to be on a losing streak when that tough stretch of the schedule hits.

His saving grace would be the amazing defense he’s played but the media loves to hold onto the idea that LeBron is a bad defender. It’s absurd but it is what it is.

Somebody's gotta say it, that's an awful game by Harden in a loss against a bottom feeder. You can't have such games in this year's race, because the other top candidates simply don't have them.

It's Jokic 1st, Dame distant 2nd, Lebron and Giannis in their own tier as 3rd and 4th

Yeah, when the nba.com MVP ladder had Lebron 1st, it was quoted like the Holy Bible. Now it's just one writer's opinion. I mean I agree with your stance, it's just funny to me how Lebron fans would give that ladder the respect when Lebron was 1st like there was a 50 man team behind it carefully analyzing every nuance of the MVP race and then submitting the article based on that analysis.

It's a 5 man race. Jokic, Lillard, Giannis, Lebron, Harden. Defense: Giannis>Lebron>Jokic>Harden>Lillard Offense: Harden/Jokic>Lillard>Lebron>Giannis Record: Lebron>Harden>Giannis>Jokic/Lillard tied Record compared to expectations, roster, absences, previous year etc: Lillard>Lebron/Jokic>Harden>Giannis Narrative: Lebron (goat who never gets the mvp but always goes on to be the best player in the playoffs) > Lillard (super clutch loyal hero who carries his team to impossible wins in the clutch) > Jokic (kind of new shiny thing who plays a new brand of basketball, but his team is slightly underpeforming)> Giannis (all time level regular season player who gets "exposed" in the playoffs due to lack of skills, can't risk giving him the mvp 3 times in a row to then get clowned come playoffs time)> Harden (literally hitler player who forced a trade to a superteam with kevin durant in it, also another mvp who gets "exposed in the playoffs)

All in all yesterday's ladder was totally incongrous compared to the previous, it was easily a mistake caused by the fact that the writer for some reason tought the lakers are 5-10 since ad's injury, while they are 7-6 (7-7 if you count the game he left with an injury), with 1 being with lebron out and most of the losses without schroeder. Pretty embarassing from their/his part.

So, Lebron is first in the first four ladders...Then he goes 1-3 and he's 2nd in the ladder....he wins 1, loses 1 and then he misses 1 before the all star break, and he's third. Then he wins 4 in a row.. and he's 4th???

I like the post overall, but about this last part... Jokic is 8-2 in his last 10, Lillard and Giannis have been posting absurd stats and racking wins lately, so even with 4-0, Lebron dropping to 4th makes sense. Still, things can change so much so fast. Anyway, how do you take a ladder seriously if its writer doesn't follow the games and scores, even tho he's getting paid handsomely to do that? Better follow some other relevant ladder makers than nba.com

Lebron hasn't been first on nba.com's last 4 MVP ladders so I really don't know why you're talking about it only getting downplayed because he wasn't leading the recent one. He hasn't actually led since the Feb 12 edition!! Not everything is a conspiracy or double standard.

Might also need to consider the possibility that it might not the same set of people who treat the ladder as gospel. Its value is and has always been within the context of what all voters are saying to get an idea of who the aggregate vote is currently leaning towards.

The three most consistent players have been LeBron, Jokic & Dame. Obviously Embiid as well, but he has missed too many games to be considered among the leading favourites. Jokic has probably had had the best offensive game, LeBron clearly defensive and Dame has been the most clutch for his team. LeBron has been playing almost half a season without AD, Dame has been playing without CJ & Nurkic for an extended period of time whilst Jokic has been fortunate that Muray has been playing most of the season, so in terms of the carrying job, LeBron & Dame lead the way. LeBron has the better record out of all leading candidates, but only a 3 game lead behind both Denver & Jokic. Overall, LeBron leads the way by an edge, in favour of Jokic, followed closely behind Dame. I didn't mention Giannis, because he would have to have a better record than last year or get the number one spot, which I consider unlikely to happen, and the media won't vote a third consecutive time for him unless its blatantly obvious he's the MVP, which is currently definitely not the case.

Current odds to win it:
Lebron 2.25x
Jokic 3.50x
Embiid 7.00x

Giannis 13x
Harden 13x

Dame 21x

Yeah, I'm just saying that, having followed the ladder week by week, having seen lebron go down so little when he deserved to go down more, I would be ready to bet that it was a mistake caused by the fact that the dude tought he went 5-10 since valentine's day.
I follow it just because even tho it's just one writer, it's still the most official nba mvp ranking we have. The only thing that it's much more important than the classic ladder is when they do a straw poll, but they only did it once this year one and a half months ago. When they will do the next it will be much more indicative. And I also follow the odds. I don't need better, more serious ladders, I could do it myself, I just wanna know what's the sentiment of the nba writers/voters

I just want to see a winner come from the west. Be it Jokic/Lebron/Lillard...The west has 6 contending teams with Dallas flirting their way into the conversation whilst the east has three contenders and a ton of teams on the next tier who don’t figure to make any noise in the playoffs. The West is obviously the more stacked conference and I would just like to see someone from the West get rewarded this year after the East pulling in the last two trophies.

Can't blame them, excluding last year this is the first time Lebron's actually played consistently good defense in the regular season in forever lol.

That seems about right to me, except for Dame. I think he should be considerably higher. Giannis and Harden have a borderline 0% shot at winning it
