I think the Magic needs a combo wing more than a combo guard. It is about fit. I do not see Suggs as a strong fit with Fultz.

I strongly disagree with the idea of drafting for need or for fit when you have a bad/low ceiling team.

Fultz is a nice story and the front office obviously likes him, but if you think Jalen Suggs can be an all-star point guard (something Fultz has come nowhere close to showing), then you draft him and just figure out the fit part with Fultz much later.

Sure. But which Jalen is BPA. I think if Green and Suggs are tied o the Magic board, then the Magic go with Green. And if there is any doubt, then trade down.

My view is that Moody and a future asset has more upside than Suggs. And I stand by that.

The idea of trading back is almost always more optimistic than the practice of actually trading back.

The "future asset" piece you mention is critical here. Because the odds of another team giving up an unprotected 1st to move up 2-5 spots basically never happens unless the team moving up thinks they're getting a superstar (Doncic trade comes to mind) in which case the team who holds the original pick should just select the player themselves.

Moody (who I like) and the 10th pick next year is unlikely to be more valuable and have more upside than just picking Suggs.

I rarely regret disagreeing with you.

I don’t see this breaking that trend.

Just look at how good Trae Young has been and how bad a decision it was for Atlanta to trade back to acquire draft capital.

I really like Moody, but he isn't close to the prospect these other guys. You could possibly trade into the mid late lottery, it would be nearly impossible to trade into the top 5. Who knows maybe Moody turns into an all star, but you have to go with the best chance of being a difference maker, and not look at skills we need (like shooting).

Agree... in this kind of draft and these kind of rookies, we form our team around them not the other way around. IF you say that Suggs will become Fultz 3000 then by all means, get him and worry about what to do with Fultz later on if he is redundant.

I haven't really been following the tournament this year. Are there any good GMs on the board?

I think I took this off-topic to my thought line; I like Green over Suggs. That is more explicit.
