he's only making about 200K this season.

I'm not as concerned with his Free throw rate as his propensity to try and do to much with the ball. He has a wild streak and does dumb things from time to time. He also gets muscled in the post on defense.

I’m also not sure exactly how coming off two way deals work, like do we retain exclusive negotiating rights the way we would with a draft pick that went and played in Europe or whatever?

If he really becomes a restricted free agent this summer then yeah it probably makes sense to sign him to a similar contract as Joe after the deadline once they’ve presumably traded or cut some of the guys with expiring contracts.

I'm sure Shake regrets signing for 4 years at the minimum, if Reed is a no doubt rotation player why would he agree to such a low salary for 4 years?

1. It's easy to sneer at 1.5- 2mil per year, if you are comparing to other players, but he's only making about 200K this season.

2. Dominating the G-league is one thing, but it doesn't guarantee you are going to stick in the NBA. All you need to look at is Christian Wood, or his teammate Rayjon Tucker, who dominated and signed a one year contract and found himself on the street before his contract was guaranteed.

3. He's only 21 years old. He's still draft age. Shake's contract is about the same as the average #30, 1st round pick, and unlike draft picks, his 3rd and 4th year are GUARANTEED.

If he’s able to secure a Shake type deal 12 months later, it would be a fantastic result for him

Plus it would be a double win for Reed. His per diem meal money, for an NBA season, would be almost as much as he made playing an entire season in the G-league.

Yeah Shams said Reed’s contract was expected to be converted but didn’t specify a timeline, whether this season or during the summer. Probably just someone running with that.

76ers rookie Paul Reed — aka “BBall Paul” — finished an impressive run in the G League’s bubble in Orlando for the Delaware Blue Coats: 22.3 points, 11.9 rebounds, two steals and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 44.4 percent from 3-point range. Reed is on a two-way contract, but look for him to have that converted to a standard NBA deal at some point.

I loved this pick. This player has talent. If the 76ers can get him to control himself and not try to do too much when he has the ball, he has a chance to be the best player picked in this year's 2nd round.
