This right here.

There are two or three franchises that regularly score on late first round picks.

Everyone else just wishes or gets lucky once in a dogs age.

I agree with you and as crazy as it sounds, I actually think the Sixers are one of those teams. Thybulle, Maxey and Shamet all look like hits to varying degrees. But they all seem like rotation players and that's a win at that stage of the draft.

Before that you also had the Jerami Grant and Richaun Holmes in the early 2nd area as well.

And TLC is still kicking around! Korkmaz too. KJ McDaniel however is missing =(

Let me guess the cash considerations are more than his salary...Kings need depth because of injuries.

I mean if we're adding in seconds don't forget Shake and BBall Paul will not stand for your disrespect.

Also, to add, I was and am still high on Fondue being a good second bench big for his career.

And us Dubs fans thought Smiley was worthless? At least we didn't give up a first for him that became none other than Saddiq Bey.

Jumping from picks in the 31-39 range to what 54+ ?

I'm fine lumping the first se in with late 1sts. Not so much the 2nd set.

Wait until Tyrell Terry is an all-st....nah I can't even try and sell that one. But that Iggy dump could look really ugly in 3 or 4 years.

The Terry pick was the sweetener in the Bogut salary dump necessitated by the signing of KD. You guys got Barnes out of the deal too.

Terry was a joke. And obviously you pay whatever you have to in order to sign KD. But dumping a top 4 then unprotected pick for Russell...that one has a chance to be really bad. Softened by Minnesota making an equally baffling decision to give up a very lightly protected pick.

OK, so the net result for us is 2021 or 2022 1st for a 2024 1st. This is a wager on Wiseman and whoever we draft with that pick to develop enough to keep us in contention by 2024, and maybe Myers has some expectation what the Splash Bros could give us then (36 and 34 years), if they are still around. But we're about to derail this thread completely here.

You didn't know you'd get the 21 or 22 first when the first decision was made.... but I get this was clowning another team and you aren't interested in me pointing out the W's aren't immune to questionable pick debts so yeah I'll stop too.

My original point was that the Warriors gave up 2 seconds to trade up for Smiley. It looks like a total waste until you realize that in the same draft, the Clips gave up what would eventually become Saddiq Bey to trade up for MFK.
As bad as that was, things could always be worse.

Josh Howard? If it takes a lot of Pavel's to get your Josh Howard, that's still a moderately valuable asset...

Memphis' last three picks in the 20-40 range were Brandon Clarke, Desmond Bane and Xavier Tillman. But please don't ask about any of the previous ten...

My developing theory is that you don't swing for the fences after, say, the late lotto. Your odds of getting a legit max guy are sooo tiny, so even if you hit on your Bruno type you're probably going to spend two to three of those cost-controlled years getting somewhere between zero and negative-value minutes out of him and then pay him market value after year four. If you can get a guy who looks likely to outplay their rookie deal in year one, even if they max out as an 8th man, you're going to earn a lot more surplus value over the rookie deal.

I don't know, one Gobert is worth a dozen Clarkes, but I'm not sure you can't get a dozen Clarke's in the time you'd spend sifting for a Gobert.

Yeah Dallas picked late in the 1st for a long time and you are having to go back to 2003 to find the one hit..... And no I don't think 8 misses around one Josh Howard is a good average. :noway:

Roster spot must be for buyout right? Does that signal no more trades for Clips? One would assume they would have just attach Kabengele in a trade if they were to make one.
