lol, yeah. That is the part I don’t understand. Orlando has to be interested as well. I fully understand why GS is onboard.

this is where we have to convince them that taking on wiggins contract is so bad that we need the Minn pick to offset

AG+aminu for Wiggins and Minn pick

If WeHam somehow turns this injury plagued season + AG into Cade + Suggs ... do we build a statue of them or simply accept their apology?

I think you mean Cade and Green...... and...........i guess id be willing to apologize to them if they were able to pull that off

In any deal with the Warriors the Magic just have to insist on a pick swap with the Warriors for their best pick. They should be fine since we’re slotted for the lottery too, but this could secure a top 4 pick for us if we don’t get one ourselves.

That’s the key to that deal for me. Could just do Gordon for Oubre and that and it might be our best bet at a brighter future.

So this is soemthing ive wondered about but never actually looked up because im lazy, but, lets say we make that deal and have the ability to swap picks, then come the Lotto, hell freezes over, we get the first pick, what happens to that pick swap? do we just lose it? do get something else? does that transfer over to the next year?

There would be contingencies. Ie, if the Magic have the best pick overall then they get the worst of the Warriors two picks? Or something like that.

So the Celtics do not have any 1st round picks coming in from any other teams. So if they are truly offering two firsts, it would be their own 2021/2023 or 2022/2024 picks.

The Celtics can absorb Gordon using their Hayward TPE so they don't *have* to send back any salary.

However, Boston is only 15.7M under the luxury tax and Gordon makes 18.1M, so the Celtics would almost certainly want to send the Magic at least 2.4M in salary if not 4-5M total.

Could the Magic get one of Langford or Nesmith + two firsts for Gordon? I'd have to do it.

I like the deal, we could use one of our DPEs to take on a player for cap reasons.

Are you imaging Orlando running a three PG set when Fultz is healthy?
I guess it could work if there is elite talent.

If Orlando had the overall #1 and #2, I would expect the team to draft Cunningham and Mobley.. Mobely makes sense ONLY if the Magic has a ace-prospect at the wing.

The eventual roster (say in 2022/23) could start to look like:
Fultz/Anthony
Cunningham/Ross
Isaac
Mobley/Okeke
Vučević/Bamba

There is not much more to do with that roster than add some LLE vets.

Just updated.

Kinda surprised by AG to the Warriors.

No chance Vuc gets dealt. Boston doesn’t have the pieces we want unless they are ready to give up Brown — which I know they are not.

I have always considered the best outcome for Gordon to be the Warriors. For the Magic, the best trade could be to the Wolves.

Either way, Gordon would be moving west over moving north.

And I agree in full that Boston has no tradeable assets for Vučević.

i) Orlando needs a PG (but an expiring one would be better than Rubio).
ii) A salary must match Gordon, and Rubio will be at the centre of that.
iii) it is the other assets game that determine the value of the return. In this instance "multiple other picks"; if that includes even a single FRP "eventually" from the baby-wolves, this is a good trade for Orlando.

.

What about BOS Smart + (SF) Nesmith or (SG) Langford for Gordon + MCW?

Works in the trade machine and keeps you under the tax.

That’s incredibly optimistic- BOS won’t include Smart in a Vuc trade, no chance for AG

Maybe I’m wrong?

AG, Fournier
For...Smart, Nesmith, 2 firsts?

If that’s the deal, have to give WeHam credit. Let’s go!

If they can pull that deal off (you can swap Nesmith and Langford) then yeah, that is a big win.

I still find it hard to imagine Boston giving up Smart. He isn’t a star but he is so valuable to what they do.

Sounds like Nesmith has had Bamba-type DNPs. He is a natural to emerge as a Ross replacement. Incuding him in this deal makes it a no-brainer for me.

Smart would be the emergency PG to close out this season, and then be the starting SG next season. Nesmith could be developed with Anthony, Okeke and Bamba to derive and eventual really strong Magic bench. The two Celts picks would cement the bench.

Orlando would only have to consider a free agent SG for the 2022/23 season to be a competitor.

EDIT: plus we get to hear Jeff Turner go on and on about Nesmith's years at Vanderbilt. Who doesn't want that?
