Its fun to see a chart like this to realize how nasty and smothering that defense was.

I was actually at Hoops in Auburn Hills that night with some friends watching that game, and the Nets intentionally fouled near the end of game in order to get the ball back because they were down 69-88.They scored on a tip-in of a missed shot and were actually celebrating after losing because they had broken the Pistons' streak.

I never had any issues going to a game there and I felt 100 percent comfortable doing so. I have no plans on ever attending LCA for a game. You’d probably have to give me free tickets just to consider.
Otis Thorpe Jr wrote:I’m with you there bro. Going to a live game just doesn’t have that appeal to anymore either. Couple that with how damn expensive it is, it’s just not worth it to me. Tigers game are outdoors and affordable so I’ll usually go to a few of those a year but Pistons lions and wings have far out priced what I’m willing to spend

Now what does sweeten the deal to go to some games each year is that I have access to free parking, and shuttle to the arena thanks to a family hookup(thanks bro). It's fun to be at a game on great occasion, but going to a game more then once, maybe twice a year and give up all the convinces and big screen?
Nope.
Yup, especially the bolded. No way in hell am I spending the money(I like very specific seats at the new arena, right on the rails mid-level where no one is in front of me, only below)and have to wear a mask.Manocad wrote:zeebneeb wrote::lol: I feel the exact same way about going to games. Can't be beat. The only benefit missing for me is that roar of the crowd/comradery during a Michigan-Michigan State/Ohio State game or a division-winning/playoff game. Those obviously are few and far between and considering the effort you have to make, I'd rather invite a few buddies over and stay at home at this point.

How teams are going to attract people like me, and you to the arena (by us I mean people who are not super young, and have the money but don't like the hassle of it all)is going to be an interesting proposition. I mean, would you spend 3-600$ to wear a mask?
No way, no how.

No doubt. I'm not that old relatively speaking and I've got four years left to a 100% debt-free retirement which has actually made me really stingy. Spend literally hundreds of dollars and the effort/hassle to attend a game I can watch from home? Like you said...no way, no how.
It will be interesting to see how major sports adapt in the post-COVID world. I've long since gotten to the point where I don't really miss it; the cancellation of events last year combined with all of our local teams sucking anyway did it for me. Add in the fact that people of my generation are man-caving rather than attending games, and on top of that throw in a younger generation that seems to have far less interest in sports in general.

Its funny that there has to be this post-Covid world. Up in Northern MI the bowling alleys are PACKED Friday and Saturday with zero masks worn. There arent any outbreaks.
I have a friend in a major city in west side of the state who is a higher up in the EMT system there. He said no goes to the hospital anymore from Covid and there are basically zero covid deaths.
My other friend is a med student and he said that the big thing - I kid you not - has been putting covid patients on their stomach which gets the fluids out of the lungs better. So people arent dying - and thats on top of very few people being badly sick overall.
Like when I go to the bowling alley on a Friday night with friends, its 200 people without masks, drinking beer, eating onion rings, packed onto the lanes. A few friends come just to drink beer at the lane with us while 4 people bowl, or we switch out.
I just cant figure out how everywhere outside of GR and Detroit does whatever they want, but the big cities all follow this emperor has no clothes routine. We've been post-covid for a long time and once the state opened up restaurants and bowling alleys, places are packed with lines out the door, no masks anywhere.
