Re: The Official Cunningham vs Suggs Thread #Tank4Either
I think bunch of people who are saying Cade is hype are gonna feel really silly as many did that claimed the same about LaMelo....just watch.
But I do think one of Mobley or Kuminga have the greatest upside in the draft.
Mobley seems like he's gonna an extremely versatile player because he's going to be a helluva defender, has good potential to add a decent 3pt shot and an underrated passer. Again my only knock is he doesn't imo project as a go to scorer and a dominant big. If I'm talking strictly about scoring he reminds me far more of Bosh or Jaren Jackson than he does AD. Go check Davis' highschool HLs, he looked far more skilled, fluid and natural of scorer earlier that even then his game resembled an oversized SG or something which is he's so dominant offensively as well. Don't see that with Mobley, see a kid who can score but has his limitations right now because the ballhandling and creating off the dribble or a nice looking pull up jumper isn't there. Fairly rudimentary skills on the block. Really most of his intrigue imo is his raw physical gifts but I guess within our developmental system that would be very intriguing to see what he could become....but pretty copy that for Kuminga.
I could be wrong but I just think as Kuminga continues to clean up his shooting, ballhandling etc they he could become a better scorer than Mobley and personally I just feel like a go to scorer (particularly in the clutch) and elite perimeter player in a perimeter driven league is an even more important thing to have (ie/ Kawhi) than a good defending big that can shoot a bit (ie/ Ibaka and Gasol). Although I understand Mobley projects better than both, again when Playoffs hit that's when stars need to takeover and win games. Not seeing it with Mobley, maybe Kuminga won't either but like his potential to more so than EM.
Truth be told I think Green and Suggs are more likely to become that kind of player that sometimes despite not giving us the added rebounding and rim protection of the others, I'd likely be just as damn happy to have them and could easily see them becoming the face of our franchise. Where as the other 2 would need to be worked up to that. I'll need to see how creative Cade can become as a scorer but right now he's the only player of the top 5 who may offer it all...

I think it's because he was hyped up as a PG. I think with an NBA PG, Cade is able to be better as a secondary ball-handler.
He might be the best shooter of the bunch. It's just that Cade being projeted #1 for the last 2 years.
Mobley leading his team farther than Cade has to account for something; moreso than than how far Suggs takes Gonzaga.
Mobley only needed to take 6 shots for USC to upset Kansas.

Re: The Official Cunningham vs Suggs Thread #Tank4Either
I suppose there's possible injury concern for Mobley and his current frame.
Cade is probably going to be the most ready to contribute from day 1, also his Paul Pierce style of play will keep him from major injuries.
He looks like Jayson Tatum with less hops. Really I feel like Cade/Mobley/Green would be #1's in other drafts. Suggs and Kuminga would be top 3 in any other draft. I guess Kuminga being 1 year younger than Cade makes him intriguing.
Possibly the smarter way to repair (not rebuild) the franchise is to take Cade early and fill the C spot with a late 1st pick (Petrusev). Look at Jalen Smith not being able to get burn at PF for the Suns. He can't beat out Frank Kaminsky.
PG FVV - Maxey/Flynn
SG Cade - TD/Maxey - Harris
SF OG - Cade - Watson/Yuta?
PF Siakam - OG - Reed
C Boucher/Petrusev
I ain't gonna lie, that looks awesome. Also would have maybe another future 1st pick or 2 from Lowry/Powell trades.
Top 3 Cade/Mobley/Green, #4 Kuminga, #5 Suggs.
I don't get the hype with Scottie Barnes. I think he should be outside the top 10.

I don't think there's a bad choice between Mobley and Cade. My preference is Mobley, but it's like picking between chocolate cake and an ice cream sundae. I'm happy either way.
Mobley, to me, just has such incredible upside as an initiator and as a 7 footer who can stretch the floor, protect the rim, and defend in space. Again, Cade would immediately elevate this team's talent level too. Mobley is just unbelievable.

Who do you truly want if we had a chance on any player? It sounds like it's still not clear which makes me a bit uncomfortable. I haven't seen these guys enough but i agree about the scoring part and you need a dynamic wing with size in the league to win now a day's.

Meh, I'm not as sold as some on the tourney success especially when each game is do or die, a lot flukes get through that just play harder as team or coach picked up on something and nevermind the wonkyness covid causes.
Cade had double and triple teams being thrown at him pretty consistently and his teammates were nothing to brag about. I'd definitely favor Mobley's supporting cast and he wasn't seeing the doubles Cade has been so I don't make too much out of who's team got further when I thought a lot more is asked of Cade.
I never really watched Mobley and thought wow he's just taking over n taking big shot after big shot as Cade had his moments (as did Suggs). Again it's just my personal preference that I'm hopeful to find that go to scoring option and leader for the team in the future and again that's just not what I've seen so far out of Mobley, he just seems like an amazing complimentary star in the making imo but of course time will tell.
Either way, I won't complain one mumble if we were to draft any of the top 5 talents in this draft.

Ya, we're nitpicking at allstars.
Like would you rather have Carmelo, Wade or Bosh.
Like put Carmelo on Miami with Shaq and they still win the championship. I think that Mobley will be better than Wiseman. Wiseman is only better at shooting 3's. Mobley only averages 1.7 fouls per game as a freshman!!! In March his Blocks/Foul is over 3!!!
The question is Jalen Johnson at #6. Take him or trade down?
Tankathon had Petrusev at #25 yesterday and #23 today. Slow riser!
Would gambling on Josh Giddey and Petrusev be good with the Knicks and Mavs picks. Both from outside N.America and would be cool playing in Canada.

AJ Griffin looks like Kawhi!!! Not sure about the defense though.
Probably not in range to draft him in 2022.

Personally I wouldn't trade down if we had a chance to draft Jalen Johnson. I just think given his physical gifts and talent base to work with is too much to pass on especially with our developmental staff.
I know it's gonna sound like a funny comparison given his somewhat physical resemblance to both guys I'm about to mention but I really do think IF developed properly he could be something like a Gordon/Simmons hybrid lol which I know would almost be a LeBron lite ish type of player but the skill base to work with is there...hence why he was highly touted coming out of HS and why Coach K went after him.
He doesn't have Simmons' court vision and special passing ability BUT he is still a very good passer and definitely has the ability to use his size and strength to rip/rebound and run the ball up court. But ofc unlike Simmons, he has shown the willingness AND ability to shoot the ball at a decent clip. That's the part that remind me of Gordon who wasn't much of one but you could see there was something there to work with. Given the wonders our staff has done with OG and Pascal (both of whom Jalen's mechanics looked better than at the same age) would give me a ton of hope he can get there.
All that comes together, that's a helluva a player and he'll also be able to guard multiple positions like Simmons. Really with out developmental staff working on him, it wouldn't surprise me if he turned out to be comparable to any of Cade, Suggs or Kuminga....so no I can't pass on that and would be very confident we build him into an all star. But tbh I'm also not high on the players you mentioned.
The only way I'd really consider trading down is if it was say for the #10 and #14 type of situation (I know there's not a realistic trade right now to accomplish that lol) but I'm just saying I'd only MAYBE consider it if I had the potential to draft say one of Bouknight/Christopher plus Kai Jones. But I wouldn't be too hype about a couple picks in the 20s at all...maybe as a part of a package for Norm or Kyle vs losing them for nothing lol but nah I would not rob our scouting department of finally having a top 6-7 pick with a great top 10, no way.

Trade down for who? At #6, it is still on a higher tier than 10 - 20, unless this is a salary issue 5m vs 3.5m (enough for an undraft).

I agree about Johnson. What about Antawn Jamison as a tweener comp?
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jamisan01.html He had an insane 12 year prime from age 23-35!!!
This could be Jalen Green vs Jalen Johnson in the future.
Beyond JJ, I don't love the other prospects. Bouknight could be special, same for Keon Johnson, but so could those in the 15-20 range.
So say the Raptors win a few games and end up 10th, would you trade it for #16 and #20? Like how Saddiq Bey was drafted #19 last draft! I'd rather have 2 shots at hitting on a player as I don't see a standout from #7-#20.
#17 Poku
#19 S. Bey
#20 Precious
#21 Maxey

People are just over thinking as usual who to draft #1 .. well there is nothing to think about, if Raptors get #1 pick they should draft with blinking Cade Cummings..Grant Hill clone .. This kid has extremely high bbiq with smooth game. Raptors with FVV backcourt is perfect for Cade.

I’m always taking the guard with superstar potential over the big man with superstar potential. With that being said, we’re the 7th worst team in the league. If we somehow get Mobley I won’t be mad.

Re: The Official Cunningham vs Suggs Thread #Tank4Either
Cade is the easy #1 choice.
The archetype Cade has the potential to be: 6'8 forward who is your primary playmaker/can shoot/defend is just too valuable to pass on. Think Luka/Lebron/Simmons/Tatum/Kawhi/PG/Butler. Every team is desperate for these guys and they're hard to come by.
I think concerns about his assist/TO ratio and quickness are overrated. NBA spacing and better teammates will make him look a lot better.
If we somehow land him I think we could legitimately win a championship by his 4th or 5th year.

I haven't watched full games of Cade. Please tell me his decision making is better than what I see here. He's all tunnel vision in this game.

I’ve watched every single one of his games this season. He’s the farthest thing from a ball hog and he doesn’t have tunnel vision. His teammates are ass. He’ll go minutes without even touching the ball and at times is too unselfish. Despite that he constantly carries the team during clutch moments and is the reason for their successful season. His IQ is impeccable.
He can post up, finish around the rim, pull up from mid range and the three, there are no limitations to his offense.
On defense he routinely orchestrates their zone concepts. His length is a problem and he is also a capable help defender. OSU does a lot of help and recovery action like the raptors so he would blend in seamlessly.
He doesn’t have an elite first step, moves at his own pace and for some that means he’s unathletic and thats seen as a negative. But other than that there is no flaw in his game, literally none.
His high turnover and low assist rates are mainly because his team can’t shoot at an elite level and they have very limited spacing. He’ll be a much better NBA player with how much spacing he’ll get.

Re: The Official Cunningham vs Suggs Thread #Tank4Either
Cade is still number 1 imo. He has the perfect tools to be an elite wing. Some people are underrating this guy because of his athleticism. He's like somewhere in between Luka and Tatum in terms of skillset.
Always take elite wings over elite bigs.
Would you rather build a team around (Lebron, KD, Kawhi, Luka) or (AD, Jokic, Embiid, Giannis). Pretty obvious that wings are the way to go

If you add Cade or Mobley to this team the rebound to contention will take no time IMO. Both are players that will aid wins in short order in the NBA.

props to Turbozone for the sig
