This team is not going to tank. They didn’t tank last year in the most tankable season of all and they landed LaMelo BECAUSE they didn’t tank! We may lose a lot of games due to injuries and schedule, so maybe we get lucky and land another top 4 pick but that is so damn unlikely now it’s not even funny.

Man what a crap piece of bummer to hit LaMelo and this team. Injuries happen, glad it wasn’t something debilitating long term. The team will still compete some nights but our MVP is on the shelf. I don’t think that means we do nothing if a trade is still the right move (for a quality young center) but more doubtful it could be pulled off now.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I really hate this for him, a long career ahead of him, but to have ROTY snatched from him by injury just sucks. Not to mention being robbed of the playing experience of the rest of the season. Hope he heals up well.

This sucks on so many levels. We're in the position to compete in the playoffs after a long time.

I hope Lavar doesn't blame JB nor the trainer for this unfortunate incident. No one wanted this to happen.

Sorry to bring up this up but what about Jeremy Lin since the Hornets have a roster spot? Setting aside the annoyance of the Lin fans (which I am one) since this doesn't affect team performance, why not give him a chance? Some arguments for:

- The Hornets are still competing for a playoff spot and they need a third guard next to Rozier and Graham
- The Hornets know and liked Lin; he knows and likes the franchise
- He'd be cheap
- He's a step slow after his patellar tendon rupture in 2017, but he's improved in other veteran savvy ways (like floaters and step back shots)
- He's basically healthy -- In 2019-20, he played a full season for ATL and TOR, though he had an undisclosed bone spur in his shooting elbow that apparently contributed to his suckiness in TOR; he played a full season for the Chinese league in 2020-21; and he played in the G-league in 2021, though some games out due to back stiffness
- In the G-league, he was the only player who averaged 50/40/85. He put up 20/6/3 numbers too.
- Seems like a low-risk, medium reward situation

The only downside is some annoying fans and the opportunity cost of missing out on another PG -- but to be honest, I don't see any other good options out there. The decent ones who may be bought out probably wouldn't want to come to Charlotte anyways.

if Kupchak comes in clutch with a tank move at the deadline it will be incredible.

Is out for the season confirmed or is there any hope left for a quicker recovery?

They're getting a second opinion but it looks about 99% confirmed. If the team is smart they won't rush him back anyway, which makes it even less likely he returns this season.

We will see when they post a recovery time, but it could be on the edge of the end of the season. Could see this team completely tank but could also see them stay afloat and make the playoffs with LaMelo returning in time for that.

I hope they don't rush him back, or more likely allow him to be aggressive with his recovery timetable, and then end up with a setback. If he can return for the play-in or playoffs that would be amazing, but if not he should have a lot more of that in his future if he preserves his health.

I'm still a little traumatized by how we just let MKG return from injury before he had recovered, got him hurt again, and then he never was the same.

Looking back MKG was overrated from the get go to be honest. His defense being his most overrated attribute. But I agree completely.

I don't think that MKG's shoulder separation/torn ligaments and a broken (non displaced) wrist are comparable. Once the bone is healed it is not at risk more then any other bone in his body. We will be a lot more careful with Lamelo regardless.
