I think that number caps our ceiling as a basketball team but I would not be upset about Kyle closing his career in front of a Toronto home crowd.

That really shouldn't be allowed. A FA-to-be player can sabotage trade talks this way.

I think your bang on. If he’s dealt by tomorrow afternoon. This is what will happen.

Is it really a bad thing? He wouldn't be considered a rental anymore. And 25 mill can possibly be brought down to 20 mill a year. I think that's solid for a vet like Lowry who brings it every game. Especially for a team tryna win a ring. Teams might be willing to give less if they thought of him as a rental.

Denver needs to step up with Monte Morris and Bol Bol.

Players/agents/media/management are all factors in these matters. Very hard to police. Consider the factors that led up to these last hours, Lowry's camp may have angled for one team only and put artificial pressure on our management to execute that. Lot of these players have the public side, but in private its all business. Look at how careful Lowry was in managing the public persona.

It could be if teams aren't able to give something close to that in an extension. Reduces overall demand for our side and improves remaining suitors' leverage.

I would be trying to play Philly against Miami with these deals:

Sixers: Lowry & Siakam for Simmons + filler
Heat: Lowry & Powell for Herro + filler

Whoever makes the deal has a very strong shot at making the finals this year.

You like Bol Bol? I’m not really a fan, don’t think he’ll be an NBA player.

In the pressure cooker of tomorrow's deadline that might line up with long term objectives but in real time that is absolutely trash value for our players. Siakam compared to expectations has had his head up his something on many a night since the bubble. That said if we value him so little do we make a deal when his value is torched? There are many other deadlines in the future for Paskal and this sure as helfire ain't it.

I'm pretty Herro or Bust atm. I've watched a lot of DRob this year and he's been pretty mediocre. His shooting has come back down to earth after his crazy 2020 season. I think he's just a 12 ppg on 38-40% shooting with bad defense. A fine player but not someone I'd be in a rush to keep or have some team offer him a big deal. Plus he's 26 he kinda is what he is at this point. If he's the headliner I guess I could talk myself into it but meh.

Considering our horrendous track record of FA signings, there are much worse things than locking up Lowry to that contract. Even at his age Lowry can still contribute.

Something doesn't sit well with me paying Duncan Robinson $15-$20 million who can only shoot and the opposing team's favourite target dummy on defense.....

Houston might gamble. Wood at C and Bol Bol at PF. Rockets need some length. Raptors were getting offensive rebounds for once.

Denver is $4 million under luxury and Houston is $1 million over so they will trade.

Oladipo makes $21 million. Oladipo and filler (Exum? McLemore?) for Harris, Monte Morris and one of Nnaj or Bol Bol.

I agree. Some pressure added to Houston by way of a quality offer to Houston for Dipo would probably push this deal through.

The issue is that I can't see the Knicks (the only other team directly linked to Dipo) making a godfather offer when they know they're already on his FA list.

We'd need a darkhorse to come in and make a bully offer.

Denver makes lots of sense but Morris doesn't become trade eligible until April 8th; way after the trade deadline. If I'm Houston, I'm asking for MPJ and Denver would wisely decline that. If Denver wants him, I'm thinking Gary Harris and two protected firsts or one lightly protected first and Bol Bol on deadline day should get Houston to pull the trigger.

Miami won't budge on Herro which means Kyle's probably Philly bound
