Lowry plus Powell is definitely not short to get Herro in terms of value imo. There is the issue that the Heat could only afford to keep one of them so they should be adding value differently. But Lowry plus Powell is a huge influx of win now talent.

Such a diva. He's been shooting real well from three but he's on an inflated contract that can be prime filler for an overpaid veteran PG they desperately need.

I think Portland makes some sense. Just not sure what the Cavs want. Elleby and a future 2nd? IDK.

Step 5) Repost the ones you got closest on as proof you are an insider with knowledge

I literally detest steps 4 and 5. But I am not ashamed to eat some BBQ Crow every now and then. I do trust Woj and Sham. Then I try to filter what could be the Hawks real interest vs the drama of the deadline. Who is leaking is the hardest thing to discern. Then the proposed soap opera end as well. He said/she said BS. Great example of that is the proposed Collins/Trae locker room drama.

My take is most of the drama was caused by Pierce losing the locker room. Now with Nate in charge, you get Collins talking again about his free agency and love of the Hawks. Collins, Reddish, and Trae were three Hawks cited as complaining about Pierce.

No easy way of guessing right. If we ate ate crow for every trade we missed, we would all weigh 500 pounds. So lets just keep bragging about the one or two we get right once a year. While kindly ignoring the 25 or so we missed. I think those two should be listed like this.

Step 1) Follow credible rumors
Step 2) Post your favorite 20 ideas.
Step 3) Wait and see how close you got building off Woj and Sham
Step 3) Brag about the one you got exactly right.
Step 4) Ignore the 25 or so you should be eating crow on because we said they would or would not happen. Not like the ones declared as having fun playing around. My example of this is Collins will or will not be traded. I will be eating crow if he is. I will be eating even more crow if the return is bad in my opinion.

I can't imagine there's going to be a significantly better offer

I proposed something yesterday with Boucher and Precious included. I think you have to do something like that to get Miami to put Herro in. Even Lowry+Powell feels short to me.

The problem is, putting in Achiuwa doesn't get Miami additional value. If you're trying to convince us part with Herro, making is give up a rookie we love doesn't get it done.

That contract is bad somehow? And Atlanta might make a deal for Brogdon if not for his bad contract and his injury history? The Hawks would love to have a player like Brogdon. That seems like pure propaganda.

Especially since he grew up in Atlanta, just down the street from the Ebenezer Baptist Church. But that contract!

Mook for Bledsoe is the only trade that I can come up with - who else has a point guard available and would be willing to take on Mook for 3 more seasons? SVG had Mook in Detroit.

Because they don't plan on being garbage forever? Seriously I think they see him as a perfect PF next to Wood, and I agree. This season has been terrible, probably for the best to keep their pick, but moving forward with a young core of Porter Jr, Tate, A. Gordon, Wood, and hopefully a top 4 pick (Cunningham, Suggs, Green, or Mobley) isn't the worst idea. Still have Eric Gordon and Wall dragging the cap sheet down next year, but after that they become potentially valuable expirings. If Rafeal Stone has truly learned from Morey, this could be a quick rebuild.

Win now, but not keep beyond? Seems kind of ridiculous to me. If we can afford both Powell and Lowry, then maybe if give up Herro, but if we can't keep them both it's not worth it. I don't see them guaranteeing a championship this year...

I think we largely agree. I think its hard to get Miami to give up Herro for two expiring guys knowing they can likely only keep one. But in terms of just value I don't think that's too much for Toronto to ask for both at all.

My position is Miami should just go for Lowry and keep Herro. Or maybe just go for Powell and keep Herro. But I also think they would be super competitive with both of those guys added to Bam and Butler particularly if Herro's inclusion meant Nunn and Robinson both stayed for depth and Miami signed a big on the buyout market. I mean that's a squad now.

I feel like there will be 2-3 trades today and then typical torrent tomorrow. Maybe a little less than normal because the play-ins make more teams still "in it" but I think we'll get to around the usual number. This is likely just the usual calm before the storm where all of us obsessed trade fans worry the deadline will be a dud.

So what do you believe from this guy. Half the rumor you like which is Atlanta is interested in Brogdon and ignore his contract take? Or do you just ignore it all since half of it is bad in your opinion?

Yes we do mostly agree, and as you know I'm not unwilling to part with Herro. I'm just not doing it unless we have to.

It seems to me that it's apparent that ATL is interested in Brogdon but not the price and they'd like to change the direction of any potential negotiation through the press. But it comes off pretty ham-handed and not at all subtle.

It definitely reads as talking down the value of the target.

Which I don’t see accomplishing anything remotely at all.
