They should have been a lock for a top 3 seed and have sort of underwhelmed. If the Nuggets can lock a top 3 seed, I guarantee you will hear more Jokic in conversations.
That said, Harden is doing some impressive things with no KD, rookie coach and new team. The man is a one man wrecking crew. No other player carries teammates better than Harden other than Lebron.
it has always been about team record. If the Nuggets don't get higher in the win column Jokic won't be the first or last advanced stat darling to get jobbed.
The Nuggets are currently a 6th seed. They essentially were supposed to be what Utah is right now. If everyone had the Nuggets as a borderline playoff team coming in, he'd have the narrative on his side IE MVP Russell Westbrook.
This is why he isn't my MVP if the season ended right now, its Embiid. But with Harden carrying the Nets to an elite record with a trash cast (No KD), its going to come down to Harden-Jokic-Lillard. It has never been all about stats. Team record, expectations and elite numbers all play a role.
Side note - I think Giannis should also be getting more talk. But it looks like he's getting the Lebron treatment here. People taking for granted what he's doing.
