We got the best top 3 players including Joe a fourth but 5-15 is pretty weak.

Every team in the league looks awful if you remove their top 3 guys. no one is loaded with starters 5 through 15. were as deep as anyone

No one said 5-15 should be starting caliber. I know these are role players. I’m saying how Spencer contract is seen as a throwaway as well as the MLE is the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. Teams certainly have 6 starting caliber players. We have 4. An amazing four. The greatest 4 ever. But just 4.

We have 9 starting calibur players... at least.

Kyrie/Harden/KD/Harris/DJ/Claxton/Shamet/Brown/Green

7 of those 9 guys have started for the nets or other teams the past 3 seasons.

I care. I care about the others not just the stars. Stars mask a lot and when the Heat meet the Spurs it shows.

You are overreacting. Relax.

Trades and buyouts will be coming.
People are willingly saying this is G-Leaguers but they play minutes even with the stars. When did G-Leaguers become quality role players for a championship team?
Yes when healthy we can have a star always on the floor but we have no blowouts and if we did they couldn’t stay seated.

These G-leaguers dont play when our normal guys are playing.

Chiozza, perry, johnson, TLC. those guys are in street clothers when the big 3 are back.

We have the best starting lineup in the NBA by a wide Margin and then bring in excellent role guys like TJ, Shamet, Brown, Green, Claxton off the bench plus whatever Blake can give us.

its an embarassment of riches.

We will see how our bench does when they play theirs against us. Nash probably seeing who might be expendable to open roster spots when buyouts come. TLC doesn’t seem able to even make layups.

Jazz really dont impress me. Their defense may statistically be at the top but they look pretty average on that end. and they really have nothing outside the 3 ball on offense. we smashed them with just Kyrie. of all the west contenders, id be most confident vs them in the finals. our stars would anihilate them and they wouldnt be able to be red hot from the for 7 games

The only guys that actually play minutes with our stars are Green, TJ, Clax, Brown, and DJ. TLC, Chiozza, and Perry are all guys who are buried on our depth chart. Alize was just signed to a 10 day contract. We aren't asking any of these guys to be the initiators of our offense, so obviously they aren't going to look great.

The thing is that when they do play with our stars they compliment their games just fine. Its crazy to put much stock into a throwaway game because there's guys that aren't looking too good when we're asking more out of them tonight than we ever will at any other point of this season.

Man we constantly say DJ can’t start we also know he can’t play 30
Claxton can’t rebound and can’t play 30
Shamet/Brown again can’t play 30. On the Clips he was down the line on the rotation. This is Brown first winning situation and proved to be a quality role player. What contender is starting on? He’s a bench player on every winning team and on losing teams will be moved for any prospect that smell of a starter.
Green is a proven vet no complaints just again not starting on other contenders.
We really act like the mid season trade didn’t mean we didn’t have an off-season to build a roster.

That is crazy. One's you take Mitch out they have no offense to speak of. They can enjoy that 1 seed. It won't help them at all imo, Luka will have them packing bags to cancun come PO.

-DJ is a legit starter. So is Claxton. they dont need to play 30 minutes. they need to combine for 48.
-Brown is a legit starting calibur player. its his 3rd year, how many contenders do you want him to have played for? 10?
-Shamet is a legit starting calibur player. he started for the clippers. yeah after getting COVID his play slipped. still a starting calibur guy
-Green legit starting calibur player.

no team in the league foes 10-12 deep with legit starters. we have a ton of depth. among the most in the entire league. and even better they all compliment each other. its a very well constructed group.

Lol at the trade somehow gutting us. Losing Allen hurt. thats about it. and even then, Claxton is like 80% of what allen gave us.

Harden >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.. Levert.
Prince was no better then the guys you are trashing.
Kurucs was not part of the rotation

We all would still love to have allen. but we didnt lose depth with that trade. The upgrade from Levert to Harden is much greater then the downgrade from allen to claxton or prince to brown/blake

with what money would we have built the roster in anticipation of trading for james harden? if we used the tax payer mle on someone like ibaka we would have been hard capped and unable to make the harden trade as far as I know.

Compare our rotation to the Warriors with Durant any season and tell me if that’s true. Any championship team will do. Any current contender. We are worse after the top guys by a clear margin.
Fandom is one thing but the way we talk about these guys is crazy. We are a starter and MLE(used on every contender. A free 5-10 million dollar contract) down and we act like they aren’t vet minimums and 2nd rounders. This isn’t next season team at all.

The one saving grace for them is that with no fans/no homecourt their role players may maintain their high level of play. but it wont be enough

Who said we would have? I didn’t.
I said the trade depleted us. Moved up players who were further down.
I’m saying in this situation there’s no reason to act as if outside of the top 4 we have a quality roster of role players.

my bad. thought you were making the argument that Marks didn't do enough in the offseason to improve depth. I've seen people say that before and it's a head scratcher for me.

You say no team is full of starters proceed to say everyone is a starter. Ok.
Your base is that are stars can handle not having quality role players. It’s the sentiment of the thread. I get it.

Yea not my claim.
Only claim is that the Spencer trade has to be for starting caliber player. As well as the MLE. Giving us Durant/Harden/Kyrie/Joe/Spencer/MLE as a core.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
