Yep, same for me. Well done to both sides I say. Creeps them both just a little closer to where they want to be, nice.

CoJo is bad, Delon Wright is good. The lakers 2nd is worth a little bit of money, the sacramento 2nd is a distant one, they won the trade by a big margin, so I don't understand why you don't get it for them.

It’s a setup trade. Something else is coming or McNair has an agreement with Holmes to take what Sac can offer as an over the cap team (10.5 mil I believe).

There is just no way McNair can come in and lose Bogdon and Holmes for nothing in his first year. No chance. He can’t be that dumb.

Love it for Detoit. Classic buy low, rehab the vet and flip for more assets. Solid fit for the Kings as long as Wright doesn't regress.

Delon Wright lost.

Yeah. Sacramento is a better team, but they're not a good team and they have enough other quality guards that Wright isn't guaranteed big playing time. Getting a perhaps significant playing time reduction while still not making the playoffs wouldn't be what he would chose.

If SAC goes with a 3-guard rotation for some minutes it's a very good deal for them. I'm assuming he takes all Joseph's minutes and them some to at least 25mpg. I've watched CoJo yesterday. He's terrible. Not sure why would Detroit sell him for this low of a price. I'd rather them get a prospect like Woodard/Ramsey. That being said, SAC need to address both forward positions if they really want to compete.

As a pistons fan who spent a lot of time making up trades unloading Wright.....absolutely not.

CoJo is an expiring for all intents and purposes. Detroit can flip him today for a $16M longer term player. Or they buy him out and save 6M off next years cap (Delon 9M - Joseph's 2.4M guarantee). Even more if they stretch that partial guarantee - 800K a year for three seasons.

Easy win for Sacto. I like Wright, wanted him as a backup in Philly, I know he was kinda bad in DAL but he’s been solid everywhere else.

The deal does make sense for DET as well, though. Collecting assets is exactly what they should be doing.

I agree it doesn’t really make a lot of sense for SAC but the value is good. So much for Wright being worth a 1st as I was told in several threads the last couple weeks.

I voted Detroit won.

Get cap space, 2nds, and I don't have Joseph a bad pg for a rebuilding team that is tanking.

I get the Sac perspective; get some talent and don't have a coherent strategy if a half step forward is actually a half step backwards. I just am not the biggest fan of it.

It's a good move fore the Kings. Wright is about 6'3, so having him next to Fox or Hali gives the Kings two guards, who can penetrate and facilitate on the court at all times. And switch on defense at all times, since all three are 6'3 to 6'4.

Prior to the trade, Joseph and Buddy were unplayable, because neither could create. So Fox and Hali needed to be on the court with either player at all times.

Trade obsessed Weaver now has McGruders unguaranteed contract next season and Joseph’s partially guaranteed contract next season. Early on the day of the trade deadline.

Should be interesting.

Kings get a better player, Pistons get some meh picks, Wright goes to a more competitive team, Pistons younger group of guards gets a clearer path to playing time.

I really doubt Joseph is still a piston later today.

I won't hate on it too much since it's the right direction. Helps the tank a bit, clears salary this summer. The value feels a little light. I'd have hoped for at least one good second, not a distant one and the Lakers 2021. We now have three seconds in 2021, none particularly high. Hopefully we can flip one to fill the dearth of seconds in the next few years.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I have Kings with like $11M of cap space now before they sign their draft pick. No bird rights on Holmes so likely a little less than the MLE to offer him now. And to do so they’ll need to renounce their actual MLE I believe.

From the pure trade value standpoint it’s a fine move for Sacramento IMO, but seems a continuation of their complete and total lack of any cohesiveness/sense of direction. It’s hard to imagine that franchise ever evolving beyond this annual 9/10 seed song and dance with how they operate. And that’s probably their goal with the new playoff structure to generate a moderate amount of fan interest and potential playin/playoff game revenues. It should last a few years until Fox demands out to go to an actually well run franchise.

Lol.. Monte who just took over this year, and the deadline isn't over. But let's judge his decisions prematurely, because ya know no time to make a follow up move to clear cap space lmao

Kings must be confident they can re-flip Wright 12 months from now in the event they aren't a playoff team for equal or greater value of 2nds.

The Pistons need to keep selling off: Ellington should be next for another 2nd. Keep the firesale rolling.
