I was NOT a Carter fan during the draft process abs have not seen much to change my mind during his early NBA career.

I hope this deal serves Vuc well and I hope those picks turn into something for us.

The Knicks have emerged as a team to register interest in Orlando's Evan Fournier, league sources say, while Boston also remains strongly linked to Fournier and other bidders could emerge depending on where Toronto's Kyle Lowry lands. Three-plus hours to go until the trade buzzer

If these picks are unprotected, I have to disagree. I'm not much of a Carter fan either, but that Bulls pick is extremely live. It could easily fall inside the top 10 and give us two shots at top 5 lottery odds.

I do think we need to wait a few more hours to see the final result. I want young talent, picks, capspace and the worst record in the league this year. Go!

THINK OF IT THIS WAY:

We traded Vuc for Cade Cunningham, or Jalen Green, or Suggs.

Everything we got from Chicago is icing.

We could have them even without trading him.

not amazing but not that bad a return either actually: 2 FRPs + 1 young guy + 1 okay vet + salary absorption of aminu. still, wow. wildly unexpected man. who would've thunk.

Until I see otherwise, those are lotto protected picks in my mind.

Initial thoughts:

I'm shocked. I never thought the Magic had it in them to trade Vucevic. It's clear the front office has finally picked a direction and are planning for a full reset of the roster.

I'm not sold this was the best offer they could get for Vucevic. I'm not really sold on Wendell Carter Jr. They clear a ton of cap space with Porter Jr.'s expiring. 2 unprotected FRP's are a good haul. That 2021 FRP is really the prize IMHO. At the same time, this is about what the Mavs gave up to get Porzingis 2 years ago.

We need the Bulls to suck. I can't wait to watch the Bulls and root against them.

As for Vucevic, I always appreciated him. It'll take some time to process the Orlando Magic without Nik Vucevic.

I wonder if the FO has been pushing to play this season for the draft, and Clifford just kept running the guys out there for 36 minutes a game. Maybe they just had enough like a lot of us fans. The wins are our worst enemy this year.

Yea the protection on the picks is key here. If the picks have major protection then I don't like the deal.

I am so sad, but at least we are starting to see our FO make Henny's moves and Orlando will fire them after next season.

So sad, I can't believe we really traded our only baller for this package.

I don’t get the hate I think this is a pretty good return especially if they are unprotected or even lightly protected. Those could both be lottery or just past lottery picks. Need to bottom out and reload.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Return to Orlando Magic
