Chicago got a very good player for a very reasonable price. Once they decided they wanted to start being competitive now hard to have done better for the price. Now follow it up by turning Lauri into a PG and they can be a playoff team the next few seasons.

For the Magic, they needed a hard reset and they finally ripped off a bandaid. Get a 1st+ for Gordon, get some 2nds or 2nd tier prospects for Fournier and Ross and finally bottom out to go back up. Orlando fans should be absolutely thrilled this is finally happening 4 years after it should have.

Otto Porter a buyout candidate now?

why? if Orlando thinks he can get healthy, they have needed a SF

Orlando doesn’t need anything this year but ping pong balls. And they shouldn’t be resigning someone that old. I know it’s hard to switch your frame when you finally get off the treadmill you’ll get there.

If Vuc is going to make Chicago better, why couldn't they have had lotto protection?

Now that the protections are out, this is a HUGE win for ORL.

Top-4 protected in 2021 and unprotected in 2023? Jesus man. CHI really banking on Pat Williams becoming the next Kawai.

2023 has been noted as similar protection as 2021, where did you see unprotected?

Dammit, now I'm really worried about Orlando bumping us down.

I don't think it's bad value for the Bulls. Those picks don't look to be real high based on their direction. Orlando did the right thing as well.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

So far we still don’t know the protections on 2023, right?

Top 4 this year is rough. Let’s see the end result. This is leaning toward a ORL win though.

If they can flip Lauri for a 2021 1st from a contender, like this a lot more. Let’s see until the day is over.

This was a long needed move from the Magic. They did good to sell high on Vuc now. They got some really nice potential upside here.

This fills a huge hole for the Bulls with a guy who's playing great. I imagine AK has been pining to establish a one two punch ala Joker and Murray, especially after those two torched the Bulls in a recent close loss. The picks are risky for the Bulls, but it makes a lot of sense for a team trying to get into playoff legitimacy.

Makes little sense to add a 30 year all-star and then trade Lauri for a non-lotto pick. If they trade him it needs to be for someone who helps right away.

The Bulls aren't good enough to be trading future picks. There is no way a team like that should be trading a 2023 draft pick.

Great move for both teams.

Chicago gets a bona-fide all-star and Orlando finally chooses the direction of getting off the treadmill on 3.2 miles/hour.

I could see Chicago becoming a player for Lowry now. Lowry/LaVine/Vuc will definitely make the playoffs and can possibly be competitive against anyone.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Porter traded again to Dallas/Miami/Denver. They've got outgoing salary to make a deal workable.

I like this for the Magic, picking a direction and going with it on 2 lightly protected firsts that I'd guess are at worst mid teens and at best well better.
