Usually, before you redecorate you want to take out the trash and old furniture and do a deep clean.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

The Magic don't have a Zach Lavine.

This is where I'm at too. Moves us from a late lottery team to first round exit in the playoffs unless we make some other significant moves. It's a direction, though. The alternative of dealing Zach and going through a 5 year rebuild (again) wasn't very attractive either.

We've already dealt with 4 years of trash, I can't see this fanbase (or BillyD) having to endure Zach to the Lakers and another 2-3 years of bad Bball. Curious to see what other moves they make though.

There are worse things than rolling with Sato at PG and good wing depth.

One fixes out PG issues... The other... a slight upgrade over what White does.

The gap between Lonzo and Sato is bigger than the gap between Trent and Coby, but not as much as some imagine.

It raises the teams floor and ceiling by 2 or 3 spots in the east...at most. So I'm aligned with you. I suspect there is more coming in the next ~3 hours, though. AK wouldn't trade for someone 30 years old unless he has a plan to win now.

So this is what it's like when the front office of a professional basketball team actually has vision for the team. Interesting.

Aminu can be a good asset for us if still playing.

I am excited. Always been a big fan of Vucevic.

If we can make a move for Lonzo, we can really be a good team. Still concerned on our big man defense, but maybe Vucevic will step up on that with a playoff team.

Not sure how I feel about Coby White for Trent Jr. I still think Coby has a lot of potential and the guy has barely played professional basketball. Can still be a really good piece moving forward and has a role on this team. I can see him blossoming on the bench.

Would you be happy with AKME is able to land Ball to go with Lavine and Vuc?

Obviously that depends on what it costs to get Ball. If its Lauri for Ball straight up, it obviously helps balance the team. Ball is a good player, but does not seem dynamic enough to be the lead guard on a contender. He is young enough, and has shown significant improvement, so he is still intriguing as a prospect. But he's not a great win-now piece. Which is why he's available from NOP in the first place.

At what point do you take yourself out of rebuild mode? At what point do you establish yourself as one of the up and coming playoff teams and take advantage of your big market and show you’re one star away from being a championship contender? There’s a reason why Orlando Magic’s of the world stay in the state they are in. Constantly hitting the reset button every 5 years because they aren’t in position to compete right now.. there are stars who demand trades every single year and every single year Chicago isn’t on their list. Why? Because the former management never was aggressive to build a playoff bound team with the mindset of saying “we aren’t realistically going to win anything so why go for it?”

Hopefully this way of thinking is DONE. Tired of drafting the Lauri’s Wendells Coby Whites of the world and passing on available talented stars. Focus on today stop thinking about 4 or 5 years down the line when we don’t even have a Lamelo Ball or Anthony Edwards or Luka etc.. to do that with..

We legitimately can enter the top 5 seed in the East with this move. This will look so good for pending FAs who are looking for a good team that’s right on the brink.

He averaged 24/12/4 without a "real" PG and will be playing with the best teammate he's ever had.

i know that zach is a deeply flawed playmaker for others, but i think playing with lavine (and satoransky and thad) is an upgrade from playing with cole anthony and michael carter-williams

I also think the FO looked at the team, landscape of the league, and the potential FAs and draft picks and figured there is zero chance in the next 5 years we contend for anything of significance. So the next best step may be to at least put something competitive on the floor that maybe gets to the 2nd round as a ceiling. Its better than where we are at but this team is still miles away from being able to sniff the ECF.

Get Trent and Lonzo. Trade anything but more picks and PAW, Zach and Vuc.

I am confident that Vucevic will play better, but I would not be surprised if his stats go down joining the Bulls. His rebounding will likely stay the same, but I expect scoring to go down. However, we could see his efficiency go up.

KC really is absolutely useless with this new FO. He has no connections and hears about moves the same time as us.

So what? You could say the same about nearly all the team beat writers. Woj and Shams beat everyone to the punch.

I'm sure you can. KC was always a mouthpiece for the previous regime, who only wrote what the team wanted the fan base to see. He literally posted a few hours ago that we shouldn't expect any big moves, then we make the biggest blockbuster we've made in a decade. I'm just saying his only information is based on what he sees fromm other beat writers after the fact.
